Regardless, Dixie played Holmes man-to-man the entire game and it went to the wire. Is Dixie more athletic than Highlands?

They are a very physical team that relies on their athleticism to keep them in games because pure basketball skill is lacking.

With all due respect, please define what you mean by being "physical"? Because if physical means fouling all the time then that is not basketball. IMO: Dixie's style looks like to me they can't guard their man so all they do is foul to keep the other team from scoring.

They do a lot of hand checking on the guards and pushing in the lane. I thought they played with tremendous energy against Highlands but that was one game. Some teams play that way because they cant guard ya and others just try to take you out of your rhythm by putting a body on you. In that game it merely looked like the latter.

 

You could be right from your perspective of watching them. I know they didnt have the quickness that Highlands had so maybe that is why they were using the physical style of play.

Where did you pull this stat from?

Dixie doesn't play any more physical than 5-6 other teams in the region and it has nothing to do with being able to defend people. Defense is actually their strength vs offensive scoring. They have 4 football players on the team that like to bang around...it's just their style. Some teams rely on finesse or athleticism, nothing wrong with that just different stlyes of play. Teams use what they have.

The biggest thing I saw in the Dixie/Holmes game was very poor defense by Holmes allowing 38 second half points to a very average offensive team.

What does Dixie have to do with thread? If you want to consider playing with Holmes a moral victory then so be it, but last time I checked, regardless of the score, Holmes won. End of discussion.

Technically, it is relevant since someone suggested that you can't stay close to the Dogs if you play man D which Dixie did.
