February 4, 201016 yr Not even close. As much as his thunderous punches, Tyson's biggest asset was the fact that he scared the hell out of most everybody before they even stepped into the ring. Not saying Mike wasn't great, but he was extremely flattered by how weak the heavyweight division was during his time. Ali, on the other hand, was scared of no one, and could take a punch better than anyone this side of Rocky Balboa. On top of that, he was likely the best pure technical boxer the heavyweight division has seen or will see, and one of its most intelligent. If you think the spell Holyfield cast over Tyson was something, imagine what a bigger, faster, smarter and more skilled man would have done to him. It might even resemble what Ali did to Foreman, who was every bit as fearsome as Tyson, and just as powerful. I'll take the Greatest Of All Time in six, and no later than eight. I agree 100%, Ali fought when Boxing was at its best, and he proved to be the best. Heavyweight division was a little watered down when Tyson made his run. I don't want to take anything away from Mike, he was a devastating boxer, but Ali would have taken him.
February 5, 201016 yr Ali fought two guys just as strong as Tyson in Foreman and Frasier. He was able to withstand a great deal of punishment. Also, you saw what happened to Tyson when he faced an actual boxer with world class skills, he got frustrated and tired. Actually he beat 3 guys as strong as Tyson. Don't forget Sonny Liston.
February 5, 201016 yr Actually he beat 3 guys as strong as Tyson. Don't forget Sonny Liston. You could probably throw Ken Norton in there as well.
February 5, 201016 yr You could probably throw Ken Norton in there as well. As well as Lennox Lewis. Bottom line, Ali would have beaten Tyson. Ali had the most beautiful footwork that still to this day no one has equaled. He had the fastest hands for a heavyweight, and he implemented his stick and move offense and was an absolute genius to adjusting to his opponents style. Tyson...well his gameplan was simply try to knock his opponents head off. Something that worked for him for a short period of time.

I think Ali would have been busted for child abuse if he had beaten Lennox Lewis.

February 5, 201016 yr I think Ali would have been busted for child abuse if he had beaten Lennox Lewis. Excuse my mistake:lol: i was thinking of people who knocked out tyson.
February 5, 201016 yr Author One of the games you can play watching the Tyson documentary is "guess what word he really should have used." For example, he said he was so big in Japan that they made "tangerine figures." Took me a while but I went with "figurine" as the correct word. At least 20 opportunities to play the game.
February 5, 201016 yr One of Tyson's classics.................... "He called me a rapist and a recluse, I'm not a recluse."
