Boone County's guards are more experienced than Ryle's. IMO, their guard play will be the difference in this game.

 

You may be right but it seems like everyone's game on Boone begins and ends with Moss. I like Davis's and Sandlin's games. They've been a great combo since middle school, but if it were just Davis in the interior, those run out layups and wide open looks would be fewer and farther between. I know a win for either team puts them in the first seed to play Cooper, but I see a Ryle/Conner matchup in the district. I may be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

Best to leave this situation alone. It could get into some very grey areas and hurt some feelings. Bottomline, she's a good kid and she's doing very well. Why don't we leave it at that.

Both of the teams are pretty solid from top to bottom. Whomever wins this game has no guarentee of winning the Region so take it for what it is worth and enjoy the game. Neither coach should get to wrapped up in the hype and both should learn from the win or loss.

 

This matchup will go on for several seasons and that is what makes the game so darn good.

I mentioned in a past post that a local AD told me directly that BCPS and KHSAA rules can be reversed by the Board of Education if they feel it's necessary. My understanding is that the petitioner must have some sort of legal or medical documentation that states it would benefit the student to move. However, as I've been told, this is not just for athletic situations. It can be students who would like to move for academic or social reasons. Personally, I think BCS should adopt the Kenton County Schools approach to open enrollment going into freshman year. It might solve some of the problems if a student can choose their school right from the start. Just a thought.

I got that and I agree that there are special cases.

 

I'm simply stating that "neighbors" can't go to two separate schools if I'm understanding the BCPS rules correctly AND assuming there are no special circumstances. That would be the opposite of, say, Kenton County where you could have 3 houses in a row and the children in each house go to a different public school.

Does anyone else out there get the feeling that our region is not that strong? I haven't been following the girl's game that long, but the teams don't seem very deep. It doesn't seem that most subs are really near the starter's levels. Seems there is drop off when coaches go to the bench. I've seen everyone except NCC so I can't speak to them but is this fairly accurate? I am asking this in all seriousness because I'm sure there are many of you who have been following the girl's longer than I have. I know there are a sprinkling of good players, but it just seems there is a big gap between the starters and the bench. I would enjoy relpies. Thanks.

From 1933 to 1974 there was not a girls state championship in KY.

I would guess soccer, volleyball and swimming has a lot to do with that.

This has been a huge rivalry long before Sydney Moss and Jenna Crittendon came along and hopefully will be for a long time. It's like Bellevue/Dayton, Beechwood/Ludlow, Newport/NewCath or any other traditional rivalry game. It doesn't mean the end of the world is coming just provides some fun and bragging rights for the winners. As far as neighbors go, it's more of a general term than literal next door neighbors.

In fact, if I were coaching either team I wouldn't want to pull too many tricks out of the bag ie press or offensive sets. It is just not a time to go 110% and get all torqued up about a rivalry game. Winning the Region is the key.

There 's a high probablity of a second matchup in the coming weeks and possibly a 3rd match-up if the cards fall that way in the draw.

 

Ryle will have a very very tough time beating Boone twice as they found out a couple of years ago...so I wouldn't get too amped up about a win tomorrow.

I wouldn't get to amped about winning or losing tomorrow either, but building confidence is always nice.

That said the games that really matter are in about 3-4 wks.
