Congratulations Lady Bears. Well deserved. It's a shame this thread isnt about the Lady Bears and what they accomplished. Most on this thread want to talk about things of the past, but I havent heard hardly a thing about the game. Would someone please tell us a little about the game? Stats havent been posted by anyone yet, but could someone give a summary of the game and who came up big for Bracken County. Obviously someone must have played huge down the stretch. Maybe I missed it scrolling through all the "extra" on this thread, but it did get a little old reading the same old thing. Lets give these girls from Bracken County some credit!!!

It was a back-and-forth game throughout. Both teams went on 6-10 point runs from start to finish. Both teams played aggressively at both ends of the floor.

Big moment #1 in the 1st half came in the early 2nd quarter when Klee picked up her third foul. Bracken had a lead at the time, but St. Pat actually stepped it up. Not sure who subbed for Klee, but the young lady played very well, & St. Pat went on a nice run (and took the lead for good in the 1st half).

Biggest play of the 1st half was Meyer's 3 at the buzzer, which trimmed a 5-point lead to 2. Uncle Mo was w/ BC going into the locker room.

Bracken's best quarter was the 3rd. Meyer & Burden hit consecutive 3's. Haight does some damage. Alana Ahrens gets some minutes and scores 3 points.

Bracken maintains lead in 4th quarter. Goes up 51-42 with about a minute-and-a-half to play (on a Burden 3-pointer). St. Pat makes one relentless final charge to cut it to 51-50. Meyer goes to line for BC in the closing seconds and hits 1 of 2. Douglas dribbles up the floor, shoots a perimeter shot at the buzzer that doesn't connect & game is over.

It was a well-played game. I thought St. Pat looked very fatigued at times. This was their 4th game of the week. They had to come from behind to beat Brossart the night before. They didn't seem to have fresh legs.

Bracken had a game plan that it stuck to. They didn't play with that "deer-in-the-headlights" look that they've had in the past vs. St. Pat. As others have said, it was as good a game as you could ask for. When you add into the mix that it's a tournament championship game involving district rivals, it makes it even better.

It only a game. Like on of the guys posted who was on that bracken team that won the all a in 91 nobody knew. Nobody will know who won the 2010 class a in 7 or 8 years. Quit all the crying. Let the Girls have fun . It doesn't fall back on what coach is better it dont fall back on what team is better its falls on whose shots fell and who wanted it more. Quit all this mine team is better than yours just because its your team. The Best team will show its self in march and then you can say your team was the best.
From what I seen is that one coach did there scouting and the other thought she had it in the BAG, So from what I seen that night ,best team won, And Bracken never got no more calls than St did

I didn't attend a private school, so my math may be wrong, but wasn't 1991 like 19 years ago. Definetly a lot harder to remember that long ago as to say 7 or 8 years. People do remember, especially when it doesn't happen that often

Bracken's only other Class "A" Regional win was in 1991. They lost to West Hopkins in the State by a 59-45 score. They were regional runner-ups in 92,95,97,02,04 and 08. In 1991 Bracken defeated Paris 74 to 66 in overtime. Here is the boxscore:

Bracken--Annie Mains 17, Molly Linville 16, Amy Corlis 13, Brandy Lathem 6, Nichole Smoot 5, Janie Goecke 17. (74)

Paris--Ashley Allen 19, Megan May 24, Jenny King 6, Lisa McCarty 12, Angie Fields 2, Michelle Chenault 2, Julie Cole 1. (66)

Other members of the 1991 Bracken team included: DeAnna Fox, LeAnna Weiss, Trudi Cooper, Erin Meyer, Jennifer Mains, Rachel Routt and Kathy Cox.

I can guarantee several people will remember that. Especially all those who played in the game and the coaches.

Does this mean St. Pat shot 26 FTs and Bracken 19? And yet, St. Pat fans are complaining?

Yes, Bracken shot 12-19 and St Pat shot 16-26. Neither team shot outstanding.

Look back at last years posts when Scott beat St.Pat in the region. You guessed it, bad refs. Seems to be a pattern.

Bracken did lose to West Hopkins, but it was in the state semi-finals (just clarifying). In that day, the regional winners were divided up into 4 sectionals (regions 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16). Bracken advanced to the sectionals (regions 9-12 played @ Lex. Catholic), where they defeated Covington Holy Cross & then Monticello (who beat Lex. Catholic) to win their sectional.

Then the 4 sectional winners played @ Memorial Coliseum in the state semi-finals. It was there that West Hopkins beat Bracken & Cumberland beat Green County. Cumberland beat West Hopkins for the title.

Didn't the BC boys got to the All A state that season as well?
