They had a lot of young talent in 2009. The big questions are who will replace Joe Nichols and will the new staff keep Manual moving in the right direction? There have been a lot of comments on here about administrative interference. Tough job ahead for a new coach.

I've heard a former Lexington HS coach may become the HC for DM. I know they had some very talented underclassmen, so I think they will be one of the tops in AAAAAA.

I believe Neerfan is on the right track! Regardless of who they hire, the team is going to be a strong contender and that is no coincidence. A very challenging schedule in '09 with alot of sophomores gaining very valuable experience (quality minutes) last season sets a table for who ever the next head coach may be! Probably going to make a certain father look like a genius!:thumb:

To improve over 2009 they need to beat St. Xavier.

Who was the previous offensive coordinator under Coach Nichols before he started calling the plays? I cannot recall his name or where he is at now. I heard over the weekend from some Manual parents that he may be in line for the job.

The new coach will be announced next week, it is not a former or current staff member, but it is a someone that has been a head coach of big school in KY. Manual kids and parents will be happy with the choice once it is made public, be patient. I know this coach will make it a priority to compete with and beat H, X & T.

Gary Weiter I believe, and he is at J-Town.

It is not Coach Weiter

As if the former coach did not make it a priority?

Obviously you are extremely close to or part of the last staff and I assure you my statement was not a shot at you or the other coaches.

Sorry this is the statement I was answering

I heard they have announced Oliver Lucas as their HC.

They didn't renew Nichols contract for this guy???? What has he done that is so great? Let's see, coached the school with the most talent and still not pushed very deep in the playoffs in what might be considered weaker, by comparison, to other 6A playoff matchups. Hasn't BSHS produced more NFL talent than any other school? If this hire is true, I just don't see how this is a better hire than the fire. I thought they would have someone in mind when the pulled the trigger on Nichols...that doesn't appear to be the case. No slight to the Lucas guy, but has MHS lost some luster by way of the fire that they didn't see coming. Seems to me this job should have pulled some big talent and that just doesnt seem so true now

He inherited a team that went 1-9 in '05. He proceeded to improve their program each season he was at BS (2-8, 4-7, 6-5, 9-3), and from all accounts, he's very well respected.
