September 21, 200521 yr I think a better question would be are the same schools losing to them in the semi-finals. That's a good way to word it. I couldn't figure out how to word it better.
September 21, 200521 yr Author For the record, I'd like to state that I have had many friends that went to T and X, and I have no ill will towards either school or what they do or what they hope to accomplish, I am just pointing out that I think that the "powers that be" are punishing all for their fear and hatred of those two incredible schools.
September 21, 200521 yr No, but my question is, without T/X/A/SH, are the runners up consistently the same schools? I believe Owensboro Catholic won the state softball title this past year. Not sure who they beat in the finals. Lexington Christian won the state baseball title, not sure who they beat in the finals. Lexington Catholic won the state girls basketball title beat Clinton County in the finals. Either this year or last Cov Holy Cross was in the finals of soccer but don't remember if they won or lost. I feel it is comfortable to say that either Assumption or Notre Dame won the state volleyball title. I think NewCath won the slow pitch softball title. As I have said many times, St. Henry, Notre Dame or Cov Holy Cross has shared the Class A regional title in NKY for about the past 13 years. Calvary Christian recently entered KHSAA play and won their district's girls basketball title in the first season. Cov Cath's golf team has won the boys NKY regional title the past 4 years. The dominance around the state in multiple sports is not limited to 2 schools or just a handful.

Are you comfortable with the message that sends to kids?
September 21, 200521 yr So you're philosophy is to then say, if you can't beat em, kick em out? Are you comfortable with the message that sends to kids? Are you comfortable sending the message to Beechwood, Danville, Boyle County, Highlands, CovCath kids that they cannot compete with St. X and Trinity on a year in and year out basis so a special situation needed to be created to allow them to win state titles or in some cases district/regional titles, too? Are you comfortable telling the kids of Augusta while they draw from a town of a couple of thousand that they have to compete against a private school that can draw from 4-6 counties and that is fair.

I'm confused by your first paragraph. Secondly, it doesn't matter where you can draw from it's the size of your school. That's why we have classifications in most sports. It's the only fiar way. You do realize passing of this essentially will wipe out single A sized private schools.
September 21, 200521 yr I don't believe the true problem is who wins the state title. What most are concerned about is the public school dominance. From what I have gathered from people and on BGP, private schools have been dominating on the district/region level in many sports, more spacifically in girls sports. People ask why is this a problem? Here is many peoples rational. --Private schools have dominated in sports. --Public schools already have problem getting students to participate in sports. --Those students who would participate end up going to private schools --Public schools become less competitive. --Teams that are not competitive get even fewer kids to come out for the team --As I stated before students who participate in extra-curricular activities have greater success in acedemics. --The result is that fewer students participate in sports, and with fewer students participating in sports brings academics down. ---I know many say work harder to become competitive, but when you have a team that is already not competitive, students who play for loosing teams will quit instead of working hard. (it's the truth and no way around it). --I have been trying to build/rebuild a program and have had to make my practices easier so that I can have a team. Even with a watered down practice I still only have 7-10 kids come out for the team and end the year with 5-7 each year.

It's the only fiar way. You do realize passing of this essentially will wipe out single A sized private schools. You have classifications in 3 sports, that is not most. Football, Cross country and Track. Don't know why you would assume that it would wipe them out. Competing against private schools has not wiped out single A sized public schools except from athletic success. They are still in operation.

As far as the first paragraph, your assumption was that separating the 2 was telling the public school kids that they cannot win vs. private. Is that not the same message being sent to Highlands, Beechwood, CovCath, Boyle County and Danville when you don't allow them to compete against St. X or Trinity for the state title of football? Yet, those state titles as they rightfully should be are seen as okay.

September 21, 200521 yr So, do you think the solution is to kick out the private schools? Again private schools are not being kicked out. As class distinctions have been made for A, AA, AAA, and AAAA in cross country, track and football, class distinctions are being made for private and public. Now if you want to take the position that the schools in A, AA and AAA were kicked out of the AAAA, than your stance is correct. If that is not your claim, than I believe it would be good for you to make truthful statements on what the proposal is doing and not statements to inflame the situation.
September 21, 200521 yr So, do you think the solution is to kick out the private schools? In no way shape or form do I think this should be done. If you look at many of my posts you will see that I have never nor will I ever support splitting of public and private. I'm not sure if any of the proposals are good. I'm just trying to point out the problems. I don't know the answer, and I'm not sure if there is an answer. What I want is for everyone to understand the problem and maybe with all the great minds we have, an answer can be found. It does not have to be black and white like many on here seem to think it is. I think there must be some type of answer out there.
September 21, 200521 yr I understand what you're saying and it makes very little sense. Do you feel that the football titles of Highlands, Beechwood, Danville, Boyle County are diminished because they did not beat St. X for the title?
