Look, I agree with Woodley in the sense that I think both the Patriots and Bengals have more to lose by playing starters to win the game. Proves nothing by winning and whether you're the 3 or the 4 seed makes little difference. The only angling I can see at all is to choose whom/where you'd go in the event you win the first round game. If you feel you have a better chance at Indy vs. SD, well maybe that might be a factor. I disagree with Woodley that they are doing it to avoid seeing the Steelers. However, no one from Cincinnati can convince me that they'd prefer to play Pittsburgh or Baltimore. Especially that Troy and Ed will be returning for the first round if they make it. To say otherwise is hogwash.

And to that end, the Steeler have been without a loudmouth for a few seasons since Joey Porter left and Lee Flowers before him. I have a suspicion that Woodley may indeed fill that role soon. I sure hope not, but that's my guess. Just a stupid comment.

I don't think any team would want to see another for the third time after already beating them twice.

Somebody tell Lamar the Bengals aren't afraid of a terrible team that they've already beaten twice this year.

Someone notify the Bengals that no one is afraid of them in the first round either. Not exactly lighting the scoreboard up rolling into the playoffs and this without the rookie runstopper in the middle of the field for the playoffs. I'd be highly surprised if they win the first round game. And it's not that I'm rooting against them, just saying that with the loss of Mauooauauialooooga? in the middle, they are way more suspect. As well as the Cincy corners have played this season, I bet they'll be tested on the ground big time in the first round. Better be able to stop the run is all I'm sayin'.

I agree and would feel the same if the tables were turned.

^We are second in the NFL in Rush Defense.

Without Maouluga you're not.

I guess we'll see. We didn't miss a beat without Rivers.

You may be right. You face the Jets with 2 ProBowl linemen next, possibly twice. Or the Ravens with Ray Rice. Time will tell. Steelers have the sorriest run game of the group, perhaps you should want to play them.:thumb:

Peko is the one who is missed as far as run defense. He is due back this week if need be but I hope if he is healthy they only give him a quarter at most to get back in a groove for the playoffs.

Crocker should help in run support too.

Spindoc, the Jets running game is very good behind that line you mentioned.

Agree, and that was my point. How lucky are the Jets? Colts lay down and hand them a W and now the Bengals may do the same. Be funny if they ran the table.

As a huge Bengals fan no way I want to see the Ravens or Steelers again. I would like to see the Broncos, maybe the Texans, or the Jets but I hate only losing gives us the Jets.

I understand the many reasons why the Bengals may throw in the towel but in my opinion they have been so inconsistent on offense I think they need to go all out to win and generate consistency.

Peko is missed the most against the run. He should be back if they want to play him. The defense hasn't done to bad with 5 starters gone from the unit.

Maybe they can rest the defense and keep the starters on offense in the game. The offense could practice and if the subs on defense couldn't stop the Jets we could get the best of the situation. Offense tunes up but the Jets win 45 to 38.:thumb:

I don't think the Jets and their QB can put up 45 against your backups.:thumb:
