Closer than I thought this one would be.

Luther 14, Tucker 11, Collins 9, McDaniel 9, Foster 8 for Newport

Holmes shot 52% from the field and had 44 team rebounds, Pittman had 11 and both Johnson's had 10... All 3 had double doubles

Newport will need to develop there bench if they are going to win the big games. Congats to Holmes on a nice win!

Holmes played 9 tonight, all got solid minutes cuz there were no mop up minutes. Thats with Avery out with an ankle injury. If these guys keep developing Holmes may be deeper than last year. Not as good at the top because Riley and D.Johnson gone hurts, but last year they went 7 deep... Mayfield picked up some minutes in desperate situations, they are playing 10 now when healthy.

Closer than I thought this one would be.

 

Last time Holmes won by 18 at Holmes and Newport missed 17 free throws... I knew with a second chance, on a nuetral court Newport would give it heck...

That might go down as the worst combined shooting I've seen in a long time. It was the proverbial brick laying.
