Listen dude, I'm not just "complaining"

 

1. Very little snow anywhere around here now.

 

2. The line is the exact reason for our power outage.

 

 

 

I never said you were complaining I was just trying to point out some of the reasons it takes longer than most people think.

 

Also, it does not matter if the ice or snow melts. The damage has already happened. The weight of the snow and ice breaks the lines, poles, and trees. So when the snow melts the lines, poles, and trees are still broke.

 

 

I certainly hope your power comes back on soon.

Here is why I am upset.

 

We have been without power for 6 days now. Probably won't get it back till Saturday at the earliest.

 

 

The out of state power workers that I have directly spoken with have stated they would have had all power restored by this past Sunday if it weren't for Kentucky Power and their holdup in the paperwork. They said that KP is not hurrying with any kind of paperwork for repairs and that they are not allowed to touch any kind of lines until they receive it from KP. That is why they sit in parking lots and other areas.

I hope that things turn around for you soon and that you and the others that are without power get it soon. I'm glad that you have a place to stay and, it seems, have only a refrigerator full of food as a casualty/loss (though do check with your insurance for reimbursement - I couldn't get them to to cover plumbing bills or pet boarding, but they would have covered food, if I had lost any - I didn't because I was able to use the mounds of snow to cool/insulate it).

 

There are few things that I have ran across that are more frustrating than being without power. You just want things to get back to normal and be able to return to your home.

And what 'mercy' do these linemen get for working 12-18 hours per day completing a dangerous job? I have heard of these guys being berated and cursed at while doing their job because some thought they shouldn't be eating dinner or taking any breaks until everyone is back on. Threatened, lied to, and that is on top of what they have to deal with.

 

I have been without power before for days, and hated it. It is a very bad experience. I pray as well that everyone gets their power back on sooner as opposed to later. But I would not want 1 person to lose their life because they rushed or weren't rested in order to get somebody back on faster. It just isn't worth that IMHO.

 

 

I'm afraid you're taking my comments a little too personal, but the fact remains his power won't be back on until the power company restores his power. Nobody else can do if for him, so he is at the mercy of the power company. As far as what mercy do the power company employees get? I"m pretty sure they get time and half for working all those long hours, and the ones I know are very well compensated. I have no problem with the power company. I commend the workers on how hard they work, and the long hours they work trying to restore the power to everyone. I know it's a very cold and dangerous job for them at times, and I assure you most people appreciate the work they do, especially during these bad storms, to restore the power.

I know how frustrating this can be we were without power for six days during the last ice storm. We had just got home from the hospital after my wife's minor surgery and lost power about an hour after we arrived back at the house.

 

The apartment building across the fence in our backyard never lost power. Their were a couple of houses that were at the entrance to our subdivision that never lost it.

 

The power company worker have a thankless and very dangerous job.

Still no power. 7 days now.

No power as of right now. Have seen multiple crews around our area but none have came and cut the tree as of yet. Hoping to get power before we leave for Knoxville tomorrow.
