It was mentioned a number of times in the State championship thread- here is the place to view your thoughts, opinions and stats of this years Simon Kenton versus Trinity 2009. Try to discuss the pluses of both teams and what would be successful had they played.

Comparative versus St X

48-34 Simon Kenton

34-10 and 32-7

Having seen both I think it would be close with T pulling it out. X was up 34-7 on SK and took their foot off the gas plain and simple.

If were gonna compare scores SK gave X all they wanted and had a chance to pull of one of the most exciting games maybe ever in state playoff history and you don't take your foot off the gas against a team the caliber of SK, so for perposes of comparing scores SK was better than T...And basically everything else has to favor SK as far as a statistic standpoint and a having a much more balanced and potent offense...The team T had this year would struggle with this years Ryle team maybe inching out a W but SK and X both manhandled Ryle...Any way you wanna look at it SK proved to be the better team they just caught X in the semi's instead of the finals and no team in this state beats X no matter when the games is played with the exception of maybe Highlands and the next best game would probably be SK vs X as it proved to be this year!!!

SK could not stop Trinity's style of play. Never have, never will.

I guess this makes Trinity last also:D

Speculating on who would have won this year is senseless. However, Trinity seems to have difficulty scheduling regular season games each year out side of our district. Why don't you have your athletic director call Dennis Lampley at 502-895-6765 and see if they can work out a game or better yet a series starting with next season. Same goes for Highlands. This would be alot of fun.

Indeed it does. You play for the life experience with the goal of winning the title. Everyone starts the year with the same goal. Win the title. If you dont win it, you have not accomplished the goal. Is the season a waste. Absolutely not. SK had a great season, as did Trinity, but they BOTH came up short of the goal.

I think it would be a good close game.

I've always thought SK matches up better with a team like X. This may have been the year they could have beaten Trinity but the Rocks' offense has given us fits every time we've played.

The game of football is all about match-ups. I think Trinity would pose significant match-up problems for a lot of teams in KY. SK and T would be quite a game this year, even though SK gave X a real scare whereas X beat T handily twice.

Next year, I suspect a SK vs. T game would not be nearly as interesting (i.e. close)... I guess we'll see how SK does minus Simpson next year. Hopefully they can continue the great momentum in 2010.

IMO there were only two teams better than SK this year...Highlands and St. X.

Didn't SK lose a game this year?

They lost to Henry Clay, at home, mid season.
