The game was very intense. Neither team seemed to shoot all that well, both from the floor and the free throw line. I credit some of the bad shooting, though, to some pretty good defense on both sides.

 

To me, this is what a Russell-Greenup game should look like. I don't necessarily mean Russell winning (although that does make it a bit nicer for me), but I mean both teams playing like it is the state finals.

No punches were thrown, though, and no one left either bench. While the referee was sorting things out at the scorer's table, the coaches and some of the players appeared to exchange some words once more as the referees had to keep them both on their sides of the floor. Overall, though, I was just glad to see a little fire injected back into an old rivalry that had fizzled in recent years.

As the referee was sorting out the first batch of technicals with the official scorer, both coaching staffs came to the scorer's table to find out what the story was. As this happened a few players followed behind them and appeared to engage in some more verbal and physical posturing. There was so much chaos, at that point the referee just started turning left and right and giving the technical foul sign and shouting "pop" with each one. I believe they were more general "bench" technicals just to get everyone to go back and reset.

Lest we forget "The Texas Death Matches".. This rivalry has never fizzled and probably never will. :popcorn:

Pre game radio interview w/Fraley said he had a nagging ankle sprain so they decided to keep him off of it for a few days.
