No. Weis's success came through Spygate. Coincidence? I think not.

 

Except for two years ago when they had an offense full of inexperience lineman and a freshman QB. The Notre Dame offense has been good under Weis. So Weis has had success offensively since the Spygate thing. Defense is the reason why he is now looking for a job, he never put a good defense together. However just being an offensive coordinator, he has been successful as that. And IMO would definitely be a step up from the Brat calling plays.

Consider looking into Charlie Weis for the offensive coordinator job if he is still available at season's end? No way they should bring the Brat back.

 

I voted it would be a great idea. However even though they should not bring him back, me and you both know that they will. Especially with the team having success this year. I said this in another thread even if the Bengals won the Super Bowl this year, I still would want him gone. Our only chance IMO of having a new offensive coordinator next year is if he leaves on his own for a head coaching job in college somewhere.

Can you at least give a reason why not? Don't base it on his head coaching resume. Look at it from a pure offensive stand point. Offense was really never a problem at Notre Dame. He made Brady Quinn into a first round QB, and well same for Claussen now. He does know what he is doing when it comes to offense, and he won't be the one making the decision to go for it on 4th and longs and stuff. So why would this be a bad idea? It definitely would be a step up from the Brat.

Does Weis mentality fit what the Bengals need? They've done the high octane passing thing and it netted one playoff appearance and one season better than .500.

I do think they could open the offense up more, but if they do get a new OC, they still need a guy that will stay committed to the run.

 

They also did that when they had just a bad defense. If they had that offense to go a long with this defense, then this team would be even more hard to beat.

 

The crazy thing is the style of offense we play now would have been better for the 2005 team, since we had a bad defense. Controlling the clock would have been better. Then a high scoring offense now would have been better for the team IMO, because even if we did have a quick three and out, we have a defense that could come back and make a stop after it now. I mean even with the type of offense we ran in 05 we still had a 1400 yard rusher, so it was not like an only passing team. I think if they opened it up like they did back then, that this team would be better off and actually would make more sense now since we have a defense.

I'm saying a lot of Notre Dame fans didn't like some of the decisions he made on a lot of the 4th down that he went for, especially with some of the being pretty far to to. So I am saying all that decision making it out of his hands now, and would just be play calling. So I don't see how someone wouldn't want him over what we have now. He is a good offensive coordinator.

Yes he is a good offensive coordinator. No every fan isn't going to like every call any coach is going to make. You can't worry about what every fan is wanting. UK won tonight and was up thirty but I didn't want Cal to take Wall out because I wanted him to get the double double he deserved. He ended up putting him back in to get it.

Every fan isn't going to build a dynasty either in New England by going on 4th downs. I am a Pat fan and I have enough trust in Belichick to say, if he goes for it then they should go. You win some, you loose some.

What are you talking about with the Bill Belichick talk here? Your acting like I have said something about him? I know I think that 4th down call he made against the Colts were a good call. I really don't get your point of this at all here. All I was saying is I was guessing that you said not to hire Weis because of decisions he makes, and my point he won't be making any decisions anymore. He will just be calling plays and that is something he is very good at. So makes no sense why you say not to hire him then.

Mike Brown is to loyal and during a winning season I doubt there is change unless Marvin speaks up.
