Nice save Ram Fan04. I hope the others are over looking Beechwood. They probably should, Beechwood lost a ton of talent from last year. They have some injuries to deal with. They also have not lost a 1A game in a couple years and are the 2 time defending champions. Beechwood is not the same team of the last 2 years. The last 2 years teams will not show up in Mayfield Friday night.

I think many will be surprised when they see LCA in the finals. It's easy to say that other teams will beat them, but when you see them in action you will see what everyone in this side of the state is talking about.

 

Mayfield and Beechwood are very close and it wouldn't surprise me to see either one win their game. I wouldn't argue with these two being flip flopped, but I would give Mayfield a slight advantage right now. This game should definitely be the best of the two simi-finals in 1A.

I think this came is going to be AMAZING and believe both fan bases are excited to see what the other has to offer...same side of bracket, just 5 1/2 hours away...:lol:

 

I would guess the crowd will be in the neighborhood of 5,000 at War Memorial...temps in mid 40's and clear at kickoff!

Is the stadium next to the high school? How about seating for visitors? Sounds like a heck of a stadium for a 1A school.

Stadium is not next to the highschool. Has nice metal bleachers for vistors and the home side is a big concrete stadium built in the 40's. Has real nice views from the top. The end zone is where boosters can drive their cars in and have tailgating. The endzone gets pretty rowdy sometimes. I look for a huge crowd, 5000 or more. Will Beechwood bring a big crowd?

I don't think Beechwood will get more than 200 there with 5+ hours travel.

Older style stadium and if I were to compare stadiums (to NKy) I would say Ludlow or Newport with the concrete! Difference is that neither Ludlow/Newport have the visitors section on the other side of the field!

 

Not as nice/new or as big as Ryle but think of Ryle as you walk into their stadium! You are at the top looking down to the field.

 

I sat with the Mayfield fans so I can't tell you about the visitors side.

 

Folks were extremely kind and I couldn't buy myself a drink or a hot dog as everyone kept asking me if they could buy me a drink or such! I think they were shocked/surprised as heck to see a NKy (CovCath) football fan at one of there games!

 

Other than attending the JC game in 06 and I must say that with the new stadium JC has lost that HS feel, attending the game at Mayfeild was the best place I have been to attend a HS game other than at Wooten Stadium (hey it's my home )

 

It just had the feel of a HS game!

 

If we were going down to Murray to visit my daughter and her boyfriend instead of them coming up North for Thanksgiving, I would be at this game!

I must say, my daughter loves the WKy/So Ill area!

 

This is how I would get to Mayfield!

 

I-71 South to the Waterson Expressway (inner circle around Louisville) to I-65 South to the Western Kentucky Parkway to I-24 West to the Purchase Parkway and follow the signs to Mayfield.

 

You won't hit a red light again after you leave the Dixie Hwy in Ft. Mitchell that is until you hit Mayfield which is around 5 hours driving time later (give or take a little depending on how you drive)! Nice easy drive and once you leave the Louisville area not much traffic at all. BTW gas is usually pretty cheap around the Beaver Dam Welcome Center Exit!

Remember Mayfield as well as all of WKy is on Central Standard Time!

 

If the game is at 7pm CST it is 8pm EST!

Perhaps this Beechwood/Mayfield dialogue should be moved over to the BEECHWOOD MAYFIELD PREDICTIONS thread as some of this data would be more useful over there for folks interested - it seems more appropriate and applicable to that thread rather than this one...no offense - just a suggestion.
