Bell Co was up 7 with 1:53 in the half when LC turned the ball over at midfield. Bell drove but got backed up 4th and long in the redzone with about 13 seconds in the half still a 7-0 game. The officials threw a phantom flag and threw one of LC's players out of the game giving Bell the ball right on the goal line. Huge momentum swing there. LC came out the 2nd half and held Bell 3 and out but after getting stopped 3 and out themselves had a bad snap on the punt giving Bell the ball on the 22 yd line. Bell punched it in then got an interception for a TD. The wheels fell off after that.

I apologize for the display when the 2nd Sr got thrown out of the game. That is not what the LC program is about and it is not what 99% of our kids are about. There was some jawing from both teams which happens in intense games sometimes but at the end of the game both teams showed a lot of sportsmanship. LC has worked to hard with character kids to have one or two make our program look bad. On the flip side I hope somebody talks to Bell Co's assistant that is a bigger guy that was wearing glasses and carrying a play call sheet. He cussed our players and told them how soft they were the whole night. After 3 quarters of pleaing with officials they never said a word. The frustration built up with a couple of SR's and it got out of control. This was a great game for a half. I never say anything about officiating but they were pathetic and took over what was a great game.

As for Bell Co I tip my hat. They are the defending state champs for a reason. They flat out got after it on defense! Hilton and the other LBers are outstanding and Carton played well up front. Raines had a nice pick 6 and is a great looking athlete. That's one of the better defenses I've seen in awhile and they are young! Offensively they wear on you and have a ton of speed. It's a very nice combination that is tough to deal with. Their program has a lot to be proud of. It is obvious they work really hard in the weight room which is great.

This group from LC is a special group in football history. There isn't a lot around Louisa but they are crazy about their football team and that was evident with the crowd they brought last night. This group of kids won 1 game in two years and turned it around to 12-1. That takes kids that have a lot of character and are willing to buy in even when times are tough. Things that people don't see are the way they act with the younger kids in the community that look up to them. Outsiders don't see the impact they have had on bringing a small community back together. They are some great role models. Pack (leading rusher) Bentley (3rd leading rusher) OBrian (leading tackler) and Bradley (2nd leading tackler) all were in the hospital Thurs with IV's from a stomach bug. OBrian spent Thurs night in the hospital. Every single one of them played and didn't come off the field even though they were sick. That takes a lot of heart! This group of kids also make the choice everyday to circle up and give thanks to God which is pretty special in this day and time.

Congrats to both programs. The kids and communities have a lot to be proud of. Good luck to Bell Co as you make your journey towards achieving your goals.

Not to beat a dead horse or anything: phantom flag, i was close to where the play happened. You can't curse the official or throw a punch while on top of a kid that has been tackled. That was my observation and i was close to the play. Now onto the coach that was supposedly cursing the LC players......not sure where you were standing at during the game, but i was close to that sideline of the game and all the coaches were giving instructions to the Bell players only. That is a stupid statement to make toward a coach. First if any coaches from Bell heard another coach saying the things that you said, they would tell them to be quiet and talk to their own players.

It was an ugly situation during the last part of the game. Please don't make stupid statements like what you accused of without knowing what you are talking about. The fact of the matter is, both teams played well. The tensions were high from the talking going on leading up to the game and Lawrence came in ready to play as well as Bell. This was a few kids that lost their cool in the game and things got out of hand. Congrats Lawrence on a great season and keep up the good work in the off season. GO GET EM BOBCATS

The flag was thrown it's over. As for the coach multiple players came over on multiple occasions upset because one coach was talking so much smack towards them. It was the bigger guy with a taboggin and glasses holding the play card. About 6 different kids came over at different times during the game and every single one of them pointed out the same guy. That is bush league and Bell Co has too great of a program for garbage like that from one person just as Lawrence has too great of a program for 2 kids to make it look so bad.

In all the kids and coaches outside those 3 were classy. Both programs have a great fan base, a great group of kids that all work hard. Good luck to Bell Co. In the end their defense was the difference in the ballgame.

Your right Stick1, the defense was the difference in the ballgame. Lawrence County has a lot to be proud of with the turn around with their program. It showed the players did a LOT of hard work in the off season to improve their game. I like that resolve in your team, they are a hard nosed team that IMO should be in the top 4 in the state in class 4A.

If one of our coaches did do that, and i'm not saying they didn't because i wasn't with them the whole game, they should have been thrown out like the 2 players from Lawrence. Their is no reason to be doing things of that nature. Be it a coach or player, the officials did let talk go on too much in the game IMO and a warning plus penalties should have been thrown earlier to get better control of the game. Good game last night though other than the last few minutes of the game and both teams other than a few showed class. The running back from Lawrence, i think his name was Pack. Very good athlete and showed a lot of class. I hope that this game can be put behind and hope to see you guys next year in the playoffs again.

Both teams play physical ball the way the game is supposed to be played. Congrats on making it back to the State Semis again and best of luck to you guys. I agree on the offcials. They had no control. They guy on the LC side ran half the night 5 yds out of bounds up and down the field just looking for trouble instead of managing the game. Like I said in the end the Bell Co defense and Offensive line were the difference. Great ball team with a ton back next year along with Knox in that District. Both those schools will be tough again next year!

Yes i think Raines was in the hospital too. I just mentioned Pack, but their are others on the LC team that i think are quality players as well as young men. I think that the young men that did get thrown out of the game are exceptional athletes that just were caught up in the moment. Who hasn't let things like that happen at one point or another and did things that were later regretted. I don't know these young men but the one thing that as a Bell fan i would like to say. Don't let anyone or one moment in time define what happens with your life, you guys have the abilities to go on to college with your talents. This happened in the heat of a game and ALL who were their got caught up in the moment. IMO Lawrence is, was and all ways will be a well coached team. I met some of the Lawrence County fans at the game and imo are some very nice and classy people. Bell and Lawrence both have some fans that are obnoxious and take away from the game. All the kids or young men that played last night were apart of a good game and the emotions of winning or defeat played high in what they both were working for and what they put in countless hours preparing for. I think Lawrence will be a good team and hopefully this game made them want to work harder in the off season to get back to another game of this nature. Good luck Bulldogs in the offseason. What a turnaround from 0-11 to 12-1 in only one season. My hats off to you.

The first player ejected for LC cursed the officals and Bell players on 2 occasions and swung on a Bell player near the goaline. He got warned on the first, flaged on the 2nd and 3rd offense and was thrown out as he should have been. Low class. I have been around football a long, long time and have never seen 2 individuals on 1 TEAM act that way.

 

On the other hand LC had some very respectful fans and players. Very classy on the field. I overheard a few of them apologizing for the behavior of their teammates during the game.

 

I was on the sideline as well, not in the coaching box but near the endzone were the player was ejected.

There were a couple on both sides that made the programs look bad. I've talked to people from both sides and the issues on both sides will be taken care of. I think it's time to put that part to rest. Both programs have too many good things going to to dwell on what happened.

As for the game I was proud of our kids. The defense held strong and almost got into halftime only down 7-0 with about 10 seconds or so in the half. It would have been interesting had the penalty not happend moving the ball from 4th and long to the 1 yd line. Big difference in going into the half down 7-0 and 14-0. The LC defense forced Bell 3 and out but the Bell defense returned the favor. We haven't had a botched punt all year I don't think but gave the ball to Bell 22 yds out then the turnover for a TD sealed the deal.

We have been great all year protecting the football which is a huge reason we won a lot of games. Turnovers hurt a lot last night. I think a large part of that was because Bell Co was great on defense. Solid up front, fast DB's and really good LBers that play downhill. They are physical on both sides of the ball. It's amazing that they have almost all of their skill kids back other than Raines. I expect them to be right back in the thick of things next year too.

I'm proud of our kids. It takes a lot of character to only win 3 games over 3 years and still stick together. Staying together is one thing over that span. Winning 12 games your SR year after that adversity might never be matched again. It speaks volumes to the type of kids we are blessed to have.

Honeslty with everything that went on I don't remember the exact yard lines. I do know we had a tackle for loss and it would have been a very tough TD to get as opposed to being right on the goaline. In my mind looking back I thought it was longer than that but I'll take your word. I know I felt like we had a great chance to keep them out of the endzone before the penatly and felt like it was going to be really tough after the penatly. That was a game changer. We had been palying really good defense before that.

So is it true that the visiting locker room was destroyed after the game or not? I have heard it was, then heard that it wasnt. I really hope its not true.

True. The team came in after the game as suprised as anybody. 1% really made the other 99% look terrible. Totally embarrased and not what our program is about. Situation is already taken care of. Both teams had 2 people each that really made the others look bad. It's a shame because both programs have a lot to be proud of.

Reflecting back on this season I hope outsiders understand this team is made up of goveners scholars, kids that witness to other kids that they get on their knees every single night and thank God for being able to be a part of our football family etc. We are built with a lot of high character kids. You don't have the turnaround we've had without character. I really hate what went down for our other Sr's. The kids that were wrong are still ours. We love them and I really hope they find a way to learn from their mistake and spin it into a positive by maybe sharing their mistakes with the younger kids. It was the most embarasing thing I've been around since I've been around the game. I think we have to step back as a program and really look at winning and losing with grace. As for the adults on the sideline I've been told they will be looked into. According to a neighboring school this isn't the first time opposing kids have been jawed by an assistant.

It's all over with now. Best of luck to the kids at Bell who obviously work hard. We had about 20+ of our kids at our church yesterday. They were dissapointed with what transpired but feel good about laying the foundation again in Lawrence Co.
