But I think that is true for almost every one of the players mentioned in this thread. None of them are playing full games and Simpson played hurt the first 3 or 4 games of the year, which limited his carries and effectiveness.

 

I agree - most of these players only played 1/2 the games due to blowouts...

I know they don't include the last game, maybe the last two. But, I think it is easy to see that he is an "All Around" player.

 

Gotcha, I thought my numbers may have been messed up. I do agree he is the best All-Around player in the state this year.

I think if you are going to pick Mr. Football, you would want someone that has exemplified the whole field of football, or the closest thing possible. And this year, there is one person who has done that. Antonio Andrews.

I do not think that any of these have been a flash in the pan, or at least not referred to as one on here. I know that Rees, Miles, Antonio and have had successful YEARS. I am sure most of them have, but can not be 100% as I am sure that some just did not get much of a chance until this year.

 

But even if they were a flash in the pan, if their play supports it, they should be considered for Mr. Football, since it looks at this year and not a career.

The problem with a "Mr. Football" award is that it is an "individual" recognition in a TEAM SPORT...I think alot of the % o fthe decision process should consider the succes of the Team the athlete is on as well as the individual performances/stats...having said that, you really have to look strongly at Simpson, Miles, Hayden & Andrews as those are great teams playing well together with historical success as well as 2009 success.

Just using this quote as an example of how it seems as if most don't know what the criteria is for Mr. Football. Is there a criteria sent out for the ballots and who votes for it? Is it a career thing or is it strictly this year? Is it a team thing? Does class have anything to do with it? I have no idea what the criteria is but it would be nice to know what we are debating here.
