For a second straight year we have the battle for the regional title in the same district. The Dragons of Green will host the Falcons of Monroe.

This is an extremely huge rivalry game between two schools and communities that do not like each other much. This rivalry is getting worse every year. People in the community have always said that Glasgow was the big one for Monroe, but not any more...and it is not even between the teams as much as between the communities!!!!When we travel around to places and mingle with the home teams and fans at hosting games we get the same consisus about Green, that they are not very well liked in the football community. Oh but they are a good coached and very aggressive ball club.

Sorry, now thats out of my system, lets talk football.

The 9-3 Dragons are coming off a huge dominence over Danville, and the 9-3 Falcons are doing the same over Bardstown. Green has the advantage of home field in this one and an ealier victory in the season. But Green has allowed 247 points scored on them to Monroe's 180. Green has put up some impressive numbers scoring 441 to Monroe's 367.

Who wins and why, please keep it civil....but lets talk football!!!!!

Monroe wins in a close one. This will be one of the best games in the state to watch this week.

Think Monroe wins this one. Give Green credit they outplayed the Falcons in the last game and deserved to win the game. Just think Monroe will play better this time and win another close game between two good teams.

I'm hoping for a Falcon vs. Falcon round 4...so Let's go Roe! I do believe this will be a hard fought, close game. Monroe 21 Green 12!

If Monroe comes out fired up and ready to play and does not let Green get an early lead they win. They definately have to control the tempo and the turnovers. Green is very well coached and will not let up if they get ahead. This will probably be a very low scoring game, with few mistakes on both teams part. The Falcons are trying to make school history with back to back regional titles, yeah I know that is not back to back state championships, but for us that is very big. We here in Monroe are very proud of these young men and their hard work. I for one definately live through my sons, It brings me great joy to see these young men give it all they have for themselves as well as for this community. I know 90% of these boys personally and think of them as my own. This ball club brings people out of the woodwork to see them, they are sometimes what brings people together that do not get to see each other much to cheer for a group of kids that have already made all of us very proud!!!!

Green is a very physical team....Green by a touchdown.

21-14

Green has the advantage of playing at home, something they took from the Falcons in the regular season, but playing on the road isn't something the Falcons are afraid of, in the last two seasons the Falcons are 10-1 on the road. I also feel like the earlier loss will/has help fuel Monroe and make them want a win even more, if that’s possible.

Coach Petett said after the loss he met Coach Griffith at midfield and said “see you in four weeks”, I think that mentality has bled over to the team and in the back of their minds this is what they have been playing for and now that time has come, my nephew told me after the Bardstown game that it wouldn't be a real regional championship if the road didn't go through Green Co. I couldn’t agree more, it wouldn’t feel right hoisting a trophy in the air if Green wasn’t there to except the runner up.

A lot of Green fans left Monroe Co. thinking they had played a great game, most in Monroe Co. felt we played slow, methodical and without the passion we should have, I guarantee speed, intensity and passion won't be lacking come Friday night.

For both teams this is a great part in their history, what I want is to be the last chapter for Green Co. I want their great ride to end with MONROE COUNTY, I want to be their Mayfield (put out the unbeaten Falcons in ‘89) or Ft. Knox (ended two of my season) when we talk about previous great seasons in Monroe County the story always end's with those teams, that’s what I want for Green Co. I want to be the last page of their best book, we’ve already been their Huckleberry once and I would love nothing more than to end two of their banner seasons.

The Falcons are all in, your call Green...

GO ROE GO

Green Co. 35-21.

I'm hoping for a Falcon vs. Falcon round 4...so Let's go Roe! I do believe this will be a hard fought, close game. Monroe 21 Green 12!

I agree with this guy in the funny falcon costume.......although I think the score will be closer: Monroe 21 | Green County 18

Go Falcons!

Later.

Green Co. by 7.

How long has it been since the home team won a game between these two?

How long has it been since the home team won a game between these two?

Last year Monroe beat Green in regional at Monroe. 2 years ago Green beat Monroe in first round of playoffs at Green.

I haven't seen MC play but I have GC, both these teams seem to be closely matched. It may come down to turn overs. I know GC made two turnovers on special teams against Danville, these type of mistakes will be crucial in a close game.

Monroe by less than a TD

Go MC Falcons!!
