I am all for life in solitary confinement. You left out closure, for the family's of the victim or victims, but I'd agree with the others you mentioned.

November 13, 200916 yr On the death penalty issue, I don't think it is murder because the adult made the decision to forfeit his own life with his actions. Yes, I do think the process needs to be revamped to not allow the multiple year stays. I would guess that the whole appeal process needs to be done in 18-24 months.

Your Matthew 26:51-52 Scripture loses significance here when it was Jesus himself who told Peter to have the sword because he would need it. My first inclination is that loving your neighbor is worrying about being concerned about their eternal place. All else really doesn't matter in the long run. You are kidding me on this one I hope. "Whatever you have done to the least of these you have done to me . . ." implies much more than being concerned about heaven. The parable of the good samaritan is certainly not worried about a heaven
