November 10, 200916 yr Best discription I've seen of Wies yet. No doubt he is an offensive genius, he just may not be able to teach it to the players correctly. I feel bad for him because I think he knows alot about football, he just cannot be the man in control. The big question then is why was he effective at the pro level and now struggling at the college level. If you are a coordinator at the pro level, or any level for that matter, you need to be able to teach. Did he forget how to teach or is the pressure at ND too much for him? Also, from being in the NKY area, I hear many UC people in the media and on the talk show circuit that are very nervous about Kelly going to ND. Some are convinced that this is going to happen.

Isn't it different talking to a 19-21 year old than it is an adult? You also have alot more time in the NFL, those guys are doing football all day. IMO, there is more that goes into the college game, that NFL guys just don't get. It takes a savy kind of guy to be able to do both. Jimmy Johnson probably wasn't the greatest coach to ever take the sidelines, but IMO, his personality allowed him to excel in both college and the NFL. I think Bill Bellicheck is the greatest coach of this era, but I don't know that he would translate well to college either. A guy like Dungy would do good, it's just different.

Some guys can coach football and some guys can coach and TEACH football.
