Now I'll say that West is the big underdog here, by quite a large margin. But whenever I see an article that explicitly mentions the coach referring to a matchup past the playoff game at hand, it makes me raise my eyebrows. If the reporter wants to speculate on why they changed the venue, let them. But if I was the coach I would never ever say this:

“We would prefer to have Lexington Catholic at our place if we can get our field back in shape. If we get that far, we would prefer to play them on natural grass, not the turf."

 

I know he dances around it, but it still explicitly states Lexington Catholic. If I were the Colts I would feel incredibly disrespected.

 

I'm sure Coach French has nothing but respect for the colts and their program, the article was clearly focused around the use/condition of the rebel field, not about overlooking WJ. The playing field for friday night is Centre College.. so the next possible game would probably be against Catholic. He said "if we get that far". Anyone who follows high school football knows who the next "possible matchup" will be next friday, saying Lexington Catholic didn't really let any cat out of the bag.

I know coach French would never disrespect any football team, hes just not that kind of guy...hes all about the boys, any boys and he never overlooks any team. It would be easier to paint him as a bad guy, but hes simply not. I dont know if the reporter took something out of context, because I havent read or heard the report, but its not his style. I dont know of any Rebel fans in fact that have disrespected the Colts, alot of us have kept up with the scores and rooted for West all season, the turn around has been amazing, a bunch of us last week at half time went looking for scores and were cheering for West.

Catholic may not even get past Holmes so if they didn't and Boyle won they would be traveling up North. So they wouldn't have to worry about it then.

The fellow that owns affordable automotive has told us, (for those of you who tailgate)

we are welcome to put up our tents and park in his parking lot, it backs up to Centre Stadium 1-2 minute walk. Hes clearing out his parking lot as we speak. I believe the street name is Delahay? BTW I think 4000 is absurd amount of money, I cant understand why the athletic Dept at Boyle wont invest in something that supports the all the extracirricular activities at BCHS. Doesnt make sense to me

I am not defending Centre for the $4,000 and IMO that seems high, but reasonalble. With the Electric, Water, Hired hands to clean the place, Trash pick up , and I believe they would be responsable for insurance on those thousands of people while on campus, I can see that kinda charge. My only question would be who has the consessions?

Boyle is willing and able to pay $4000 to play of Centres turf......... That makes me wonder how mush would it cost for Boyle to convert its own field to turf for next year to avoid this problem. I don't have a clue does anyone know the cost of turf? I would guess the savings from water fertilizer, seed and now rent would justify Boyle getting thier own turf. Anyone?

I would say around a couple of hundred thousand.
