Russell led this game at the half 14-13, but Sheldon Clark came out in the 2nd half and dominated on both sides of the ball. The better team won this one.

 

Russell did a good job this season. Hopefully they will get to training and come out next year a little bigger and faster.

Sheldon Clark opened the 2nd half by coming out in a different formation other than the wishbone and spread, the 2 they commonly used. It worked because they tore off a long TD run to take the lead 21-14 in a matter of 50 seconds. The teams traded possessions and then Russell fumbled a punt giving the ball to Sheldon Clark in Russell territory. From there, it was all downhill as Sheldon Clark punched it in again and converted the 2 point conversion to make it 29-14. Russell seemed to be deflated after that and the rest of the way was just a grind it out sort of game on both sides.

How do you get that ? The Cardinals shut out the Devils 23-0 after the break.

 

I wouldn't take that as a good sign if my team were due to play SC next week. If Sheldon Clark stays disciplined, they are a VERY dangerous team. The confidence they were sure to gain in this one makes them that much tougher.

SCHS came out and ran a little Wing T at the start of the 2nd Half...interesting twist against a Russell team that always runs that formation!

If this Sheldon Clark team plays disciplined ball and keeps check of their emotions, it's a very dangerous team. I saw glimpses of this team's capabilities in the 2nd half of the P-burg/SC game.

 

The Cards took themselves out of their regular season matchup with Belfry (not that the Pirates needed the assistance - they rarely do). Would LOVE to see the rematch next week at Pond Creek. It should be a good one.

Pirates need to get healthy fast!

It was about the game I expected. I knew Russell would hang for awhile(didnt expect the halftime score). SC did not have everyone back as expected but all will be back Friday. I'm looking for the upset as Sheldon Clark has some steam coming into the 2nd round and will be playing high knowing they are at full strength.
