Congratulations to the Meece Middle football team. Played a great game against 14-1 Morgan County yesterday winning 42-6. The future of Somerset football is very bright for the next four years. Also would like to thank Coach Messamore, Barber, Price, Stigall and Sandusky for everything that you gentleman have meant to my son and the Somerset program.

How can they be considered state champs? I know they never played any teams from NKY..

Well that is the NKY teams fault for not getting involved with the state association. If interested PM me for details.

I would anticipate that each year more and more teams will be involved in the state association. I kind of refer to this like the All "A" Classic, each year it will only get bigger and better.

..

Kentucky Middle School Football Association (KYMSFA) sponsers this championship. Not all schools belong to KYMSFA and not all schools participate in the championship. As noted many Northern Kentucky teams and conferences are not part of the association or tournament. Louisville schools do not participate yet either.

Last year it was titled 'KYMSFA Conference-on-conference State Championship'. That was too long - so the 'Conference-on-conference' was dropped.

KYMSFA is the first statewide function dedicated to MS football. It is only 2 years old and the championship is a good way to encourage participation.

The Gallatin Morgan game was the best game of the weekend in my mind. Came down to the very end. I hope the kid from Gallatin is ok that got injured.

Great job Briar Jumpers! Now work hard in the weight room in the offseason, you're about to join a very talented group of returnees on the varsity team next season.
