Corbin only has one 7th grade team and one 8th grade team feeding their high school. I don't think anyone will argue with their success at the middle school or high school level. As far as Corbin's participation numbers at the high school level, I believe that when the Corbin football team picture was published in the paper, I counted 58 or 59 players. I'm not to taking either side. I'm only pointing out that success can be achieved with only one middle school feeder program.

 

Comparing an Ind. school district that has roughly 600 kids to a county school that has around 1300 kids is difficult. Corbin is a differnent animal, they have selection of students, they have tradition that goes back to the early 1900's, with students having family ties from generation back, Corbin is unlike almost any county school, they do have a great middle school program right now.

Just out of curiosity do any middle school programs out there feed multiple High School teams?

While there are always up and down years, I think most schools on average have roughly the same amount of genetically talented kids. To me, the question is how do the rest of the kids develop - those kids that are only "average" when they arrive at HS? IMO, those are the kids that put Highlands over the top each year. How do you think they got enough kids for a two platoon system?

 

Another question with regard to developing talent is the socioeconomic status of the school district. Parents that have money are able to send their kids to individual camps, personal trainers, ect. Fort Thomas is one of the more prominent cities in Northern Kentucky.

Kenton County high schools have open enrollment, so kids from the Twenhofel, Turkeyfoot, and Summit View middle school football programs could choose to attend Dixie Heights, Scott, or Simon Kenton high school.

Oldham Co has 4 MS (North, East, South and Oldham) and only 3 HS (North, South and Oldham) so there is a split some where.
