Man, tough loss for the MC Falcons. ACS was a tough undefeated 4A team. I hope that MC doesn't let the last two losses effect them too much as they head into the playoffs.

Great win and season for a really good ACS ball club. The conditions last night were awful. I feel for Acs because their field is completely destroyed. They have a bi next week but their is no getting the field back this year. As for monroe, well that is a completely different story! IMO there needs to be some issues addressed on offense. The backfield has serious issues that need fixing before the playoffs and someone needs to build a fire under some linemens behinds!!! I seen linemen all night missing blocks, not picking up linebackers, and just plain not playing good football....but that is just my observation!

I agree about the backfield... I don't think we’re getting 100% and that's very unfortunate... I would like to see what Colby could do at FB and Dillon could do at TB with help from Chad Wilson. If we continue to run half speed and dance in the hole then a deep playoff run is out of the question...

 

My observations from last night,

-Defense played well, but the DE's still need improvement.

-A 4-4 defense is probably not the best defense against double TE's and I formation, IMO you need more meat on the line of scrimmage in that situation...

-Offense once again didn't show up, the bright side of that is they've forced the defense to play lights out, if both units can get it going at the same time, we could be dangerous...

-Please throw the footballs we currently use away, I have never seen a team struggle so bad to throw a wet football, in my opinion a leather ball would help...

-It's already been said, but we've got to get the football in some other player’s hands, the lack of production at key positions has crippled our offense, and thus crippled our team...

I honestly believe that we'll get it going now that the regular season is over and the real season begins, I hope these guys understand that this ride will be over in a blink of an eye and they better seize the moment and make the most of it. I see no reason this team can't repeat as Regional Champs, but it's going to take more than what they have given the last 4 games...

Four things this team needs to learn and do: They are BLOCKING, BLOCKING , BLOCKING and Full speed. I agree with Semperfifalcon the backs must stop dancing and hit the hole full speed come what may. I think Chad Wilson would make a good threat to the defense as an running back along with the option of sending him out for a pass from the rb position. JMO

What does the 4A playoff picture look like? I didn't see a seperate thread(must be overlooking it)

Acs has a really good ball club. There was no 1st downs in the entire first quarter for either club. Acs started moving the ball a little before half but no scores. I honestly seen them walking into the locker room with their heads hanging, I am not sure why because they played an extremely tough 1st half of football. 2nd half was definately different for them, they found what worked against monroe and utilized it with no defensive changes from monroe...bad coaching imo. they stacked the box with twin tight and we stayed in a 4-4 defense, it was pretty bad what they were doing to us on the line of scrimmage!

 

Monroe will get it together for the playoff run...regular season is over time to make the changes for the better run now!!!

Congratulations to ACS

I have been getting calls all day from a bunch of very digruntled fans from Monroe. I know they all read BGP and I want to say that John will do what he feels appropriate for the Falcons! This is just some inner demons coming out of a bunch of people. I was a bench warmer under John and I know first hand that he knows Football and also knows what he needs to do to fix the problems. Monroe has a lot of parents that need to remember that this is Monroe County Football...not their sons team...the best athletes will start and play. Weather that be a senior or a freshman, as long as it works for the Falcons everthing will be fine, but when it doesn't, lets try to find the next thing that will, your son or your neighbors...whomsoever shall be the best player for that night!!!! I love Monroe county football and will do whatever it may be to help this team go deep in the playoffs, this is my oldest son's senior year and I have a junior also, so this team is very important to me and my wife.

Dragon, you 've made mention of this type of thing several times as "losing to top teams in their class". Being a top team in your class 'ain't what it used to be'. But I do agree that losing to a 10-0 ACS team and an 8-2 Franklin team in non-district games is nothing to be ashamed of, especially considering they lost both games by a TD.

 

So with that, I'll just say the Monroe faithful need to appreciate the job Coach Petett does with the Falcons. With what they lost last year, sitting at 7-3 is a pretty good year.
