Dragon, you 've made mention of this type of thing several times as "losing to top teams in their class". Being a top team in your class 'ain't what it used to be'. But I do agree that losing to a 10-0 ACS team and an 8-2 Franklin team in non-district games is nothing to be ashamed of, especially considering they lost both games by a TD.

 

So with that, I'll just say the Monroe faithful need to appreciate the job Coach Petett does with the Falcons. With what they lost last year, sitting at 7-3 is a pretty good year.

Agree 100% I think Coach Pettet does a good job no problems there. The problem I see is blocking from the line. I think this has made our backs gun shy except for the fullback. We know being offensive lineman is tough and usually he gets no praise or glory, but its a one on one. One either stops their man or he beats you. So the lineman must be aggressive, likes to hit , and likes the one on one battle. This also goes for backs and wide recievers when they are not running the ball. I just have not see this aggresiveness from the lineman every game only time from time. I will give the line credit in the Glasgow game in the second half they open holes and that is why the wildcat work then.

I don't think anyone doubts Coach Petett, and if they are that would be a mistake. The challenge that Coach Petett is faced with now is what can he expect from his players come game time? He knows more than anyone what his players are capable of and when they don't perform up to the standard they’ve set for themselves it would have to be frustrating for a coach whose game plan depends on that production.

Monroe's problems are simple and can be fixed by 76 young men giving a 100%, everything else will take care of it self...

There is no doubt that we are not seeing 100% from all...the problem is how you find the grit and the heart from kids that may just not have the love for it as most of us on here do? I also know first hand that some of our backs and qb's can outlift a whole lot of the OL...Big Problem!!! We lost some kids last year that are going to be hard to replace but these kids have to realize that it is their time to shine...not last years grads. I hope they do not go out this year with regrets of not giving every ounce of love for it that we all seem to expect from them. It is really hard to be a parent and a former player and not know if these young men will give all on friday night. I can honestly say without a doubt that I have many regrets from my school das and the most heart wrenching ones come from my own lack of effort when I was playing!!! I feel these kids do not yet realize what they are a part of, and what they will treasure later in life...I can say that most of us on this board do!!!!
