Bethel-Tate, OH 20 Brossart 0

Featured Replies

Mustangs take one on the chin in the season finale/Senior Night.

Bethel-Tate scored early as a result of an intercepted Jessie Orth pass, making it a quick 7-0 football game.

Brossart had a chance to punch one in - second and one at the four yard line, when an illeagal procedeure flag marched the ball back to the nine, and the Stangs came up empty. The score remained 7-0 at halftime.

The third quarter belonged to the visiting Tigers, scoring two touchdowns while holding the Mustangs to a lone first down, extending their lead to 20-0, and after a scoreless fourth quarter put this one into the history book as a 20-0 Mustang loss.

Brossart will take on top-ranked Frankfort next Friday night in the KHSAA Class 1-A playoffs for the first time in Brossart program history.

I really got to question some of the Brossart play calling in this one. As Mustang said had ball inside 10 and on 4th down went for it instead of kicking field goal (they have good kicker). Bethel was only up 7-0. That could have made score 7-3 and would have given them a little momentum. Instead they walk off field with nothing and heads down and Bethel fired up. Strange play to end half, it was 4th down only seconds left in 1st half Bethel runs pass play they are called for offensive pass interference (push off). With no time left on clock Referee marches off yardage for penalty from where ball was snapped. It puts Brossart at Bethel 40yd line for one play. Brossart takes a knee???? They never even took a shot at it. If you've ever watched a Brossart game the coaching for this team will leave you shaking your head. Sure it would have only been 3 points (7-3 at half) but what it would have done mentally for the team could have been huge. I've said on here before that the Coaching staff pretty much new to the positions they are now coaching, but it's not rocket science and their is no excuse they all have played and been assistance else where. I wish Brossart players luck at Frankfort.

Again bashing on the coaching? The coach's must have seen something to make them want to go for it on fourth down. Also we have seen in recent history (betsy layne) that maybe running a play to end the half may not always be the best idea. They also at the end of the half were without 4 starting lineman and the starting Te so running with a jv line may have not been a good idea.

Also what coach's are coaching something other than what they normally do. You keep making comments about it. Knowing the staff I don't think that is true.

I wish I could have watched this game, I played against Bethel Tate as a high school player in the old Clermont County League (CCL). When I saw their name on here it brought back some old but very good memories! There is nothing better than high school football under those FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS!

Sorry I'm trying not to bash them, but we should not make excuse for them either. At Besty lane game at the end of half Brossart was winning and on their own 30yd line (take Knee). I know Head Coach has never been head coach any where, I don't think Offensive coordinator has ever called plays anywhere? I know they all have been in voled in some aspect of Coaching. At times they just seem to be their own worst enemies.

Whats wrong with 4 lineman injury's, setting them, hopefully will be ready for Frankfort?

If my memory is correct, Brossart is playing without one of their best players on offense. In reading a previous thread their running back was going to miss the remainder of the season, so with this being the case their offense is bound struggle a bit. As far as your comments about the coaching staff, it looks to me that in less than 2 years they have turned things around and the program is headed in a positive direction. While not very familiar with the program it seems hard to find fault with the progress that the team has made under this staff! I will agree that the coaches in the stands are always much better than the coaches that get paid to do a job on the field:D

Good luck to the Mustangs in the playoffs:thumb:

Actually the OC has called plays for 6 years and also was trained under Mike Yeagle at Beechwood and the OC at Georgetown college so he might know a little bit about calling the offense. Regardless you can call the greatest game in the world but if the plays aren't executed it could make any coach look bad. Sorry about snapping but everybody gets on here and wants to bash coach's and we are not in those huddles, practices, or locker rooms so we don't know the whole situation.

242 you beat me to it but that is very well said. Actually Bowman did play last night it was only a one week suspension.

If he has had that much play calling exp. then why not help your offense and put points on the board. They had three tries to score and netted nothing (lost yardage). You take the points. Now believe me I'm wide open for reason's thats why I like reading comments it gives you a chance to see different points of view. Sorry to pick on your buddy. :)

(HouseofPain) Bethel was big ran ball well, passing game average.

Does anyone know anything about Frankfort????

My guess would be they didn't put points on the board because the players didn't execute the plays. I know a few of the coaches on the staff and I do know that they know what they are doing and have been on programs that have been successful so coaching is not the problem at all. They have taken a team that has never won a game prior to this season and now taking them to the playoffs. The coaching is fine they are a young team and they seem to be doing pretty good. 5-5 and going to the playoffs, a lot of teams would take that.

Disappointed that BBHS didn't stick with original suspension of their player. What message does that send to everyone else who keeps their nose clean ?

Who is the OC that played at Georgetown? What is their base offense and defense?

Perhaps they didnt need the player at all. BB did score 40 against Dayton without him. Message sent to that player!!!

The original suspension was 1 game the other suspension stories were just that stories. I think he learned his lesson not being part of the biggest game in school history to this date. He is a good kid and just made a bad choice.
