October 25, 200916 yr You'd be surprised how many people thought a simple break-in was a non-story. I've studied a bit in this field and maybe that is a shoot-the-moon comparison. I'm not saying the recruitment of John Wall will have the same result and don't think John Calipari will descend from a helicopter and declare "Im not a Crook." But most big stories begin as a non-story. History has proven it.
October 25, 200916 yr Author And wireman continues his personal vendetta ... Just pointing out a few articles that make for good discussion :thumb:
October 25, 200916 yr Author And wireman continues his personal vendetta ... You can guarantee that when John Calipari stands up at SEC Media Day and specifically mentions Jerry Tipton, however, that his negative "work" is being noticed in a big way. It is also pretty evident through the seating arrangements of media at Rupp Arena this season (which could be the reason why Tipton has unloaded in the past two weeks or so).
October 25, 200916 yr ^ This has a whole Obama vs. FoxNews ring to it. All we need now is for Calipari and his assistants to proclaim Jerry Tipton isn't a real sports writer.

October 25, 200916 yr Author The man is doing his job, Wireman. Just because he doesn't do it the way you want him to ... I talked to someone else that would know and I can confidently say that Tipton's job is not to spin every UK story in a negative fashion.

October 25, 200916 yr Author No, that's just the way you see it ... That's from someone that works with Tipton at the Herald-Leader. He goes rogue on many of his negative stories.
October 25, 200916 yr Kind of like what Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein did in the early to mid 70s. How did that turn out? Wow there's a reach. Stop traffic, Tipton is now Woodward and Bernstein. I get tired of the "he's just doing his job" rationale. If a guy is bad at what he does then he is still "just doing his job" he just bad at it.
October 25, 200916 yr The News Observer and the Herald-Leader are owned by McClatchy, so it makes perfect sense in tough business times for them to pool their resources. You guys get all lathered up over some really trivial stuff. I don't know if that's the correct term...

Yeah, they pretty much hand out inductions into the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Hall of Fame like they are candy.
October 25, 200916 yr Yeah, they pretty much hand out inductions into the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Hall of Fame like they are candy. John Wooden is in the Basketball Hall of Fame, do you want him coaching your team? FWIW, someone from Danville told me that Larry Vaught said the Wall thing is not a big deal and he will probably not miss any games.
