For those interested, Soddy Daisy is a 3a team, not a 6a team. They are a pretty solid team though. The Bell Co win was an impressive one, regardless of class. SD only had a 3-3 record coming in but 2 of those losses were to undefeated teams and they played them close. Ooltawah(7-0) is a highly ranked 3a team and one of Soddys losses, 21-14. That same Ooltawah team knocked off Franklin, Tn 19-3 and also beat a solid Austin East team. For those of you not familiar with Franklin, that's the same team that destroyed Fern Creek and Christian Co this year, so, the fact Soddy Daisy played Ooltawah that close is impressive. The other loss was to Red Banks(7-0), a Top 5 2a team, 44-30. That same Red Banks team beat an outstanding Boyd Buchanan team a few weeks ago.

 

I know it's hard to compare scores, but, the way Bell Co handled Soddy while that same team fought tooth and nail against some very impressive Tn teams, is saying alot.

 

Just thought I'd throw this info out there to give you an idea about what type competition Soddy was.

Sorry to burst bubbles on here, but Soddy Daisy is a 6a school. This according to the newspaper out of Chattanooga. All sports pages out of Soddy Daisy and Chattanooga list them as a 6A school with close to 1600 kids in the school. I'm well aware of where the high school is at Soddy which is on the north side of Chattanooga. Alcoa is a 3A school out of Tennessee which Bell also played.

Not sure here, but i was going by the Chattanooga newspaper, which did say that they were a 6A school. I have family in the area and read it there earlier in the week. You might be right or i may be right but Soddy Daisy, be either a 3A or 6A school, was a pretty good team. I think close to 1600 students and 90+ players is a pretty good team and would be a hugh 6A school in the state of Kentucky. GREAT WIN BOBCATS

So, I guess everyone is correct. Soddy is both 3-A and 6-A which doesn't change the fact that this was a very good win for Bell Co against a very good out of state team. Way to go Bobcats and way to win one for Ky!:thumb:

We have a similar situation in Virginia which is very confusing as well. There are technically three classes (A, AA, AAA) but two divisions in each class. So in reality, there are 6 classes in Virginia but it's recognized as Class AA Group 1 State Champion and/or Class AA Group 2 State Champion. :confused:

 

Never understood why they don't just say Class AAA State Champs and Class AAAA State Champs? :idunno:

Very true. Atleast we have that part right in KY!!!!

Soddy Daisy was an impressive looking team. They were big, had some speed in the skill postions and 90+ players including 25 seniors. QB was impressive (2 time all-state in TN.) but could not get his feet set long enough to throw the ball. The Bell front 7 players kept the preasure on all night, sacking and hurrying the QB on nearly every play.

Scott Parrot I belive? Yes he is a Sr. Very good looking athlete 6'4" 205 with a cannon and decent speed.

Tn has never had 6 classes...5A has always been there biggest with 2 private classes seperate...However, they did make all these changes this year with districts and playoff format, etc, so, they very well could have went to 6 this yr, like Ky did a few yrs ago...

 

And to the guy saying Tns format hurts there head....Amen brother, amen...

There are three classes in TN. In the playoffs the three classes split in half, according to enrollment and make 6. Virtually there are six classes, but to qualify for the playoffs there are only 3. So in your district you play against schools with different enrollments. Example 1a and 2a make up class 1A. 3a and 4a make up 2A.

 

Soddy Daisy is a 6a school that is 3A until the playoffs start.

 

Soddy is a very average team. Good win for Bell.
