I think with boyles field as long as there is a couple of dry hours before the game it will be fine. The field seems to drain very quickly.

Typical of the Lexington Catholic fan base, not much is on the record from their side during the pre-game banter to promote or add to the hype.... that being said, I will have to say that as long as Catholic does not get behind early (as they have done in several games this season), they will have a chance to compete. A key to a competive game is for the defense to not give up the big play early on - this is not the same defense as in the past several years, but they have good athletes that simply need to execute each and every play. Catholic can put up points in a short period of time, it is just a matter of the defense holding tough - play big and you will win.

 

If only a touchdown separates the two teams at half-time, then Catholic wins. If LexCath is down by 2 touchdowns at half, it's Boyle's game.

Whew, for a second there I thought you were going to bring up a horrible monsoon in October of 1979 and how the rain and horrible field impacted a team's season. :cry::scared: :irked:

That was one of the Jessamine Co. teams that beat them that year, right? I remember being shocked. I think it was the week after Danville beat them to end the streak? I may be a bit off on the time line.

That's why I didn't mention the R word Hatz. With all the therapy I thought it was best to keep quite back in those days.

 

I'll tell you another game......1997 against Bourbon County. Boyle won the earlier season matchup up 33-0 and in the playoff re-match with a bad field, Boyle got stomped. Bourbon went on to win the State Title that year.

I thought it was East, I was shocked too.

I was at that 1997 playoff game when Tim Persian and Bourbon Co. ran all over Boyle. The field conditions were terrible. Boyle has a much better field in terms of drainage. I think that game played a big part in Boyle rebuilding the field. I think it was around 99 or 2000 I remember it took two tries to get it right but there was a much better drainage system installed and the field was crowned so water would run off faster.

Wow West Jessamine and they had a winning record that year too. I never would have though it was them.

Game Day is finally here. It's been good weather all day today, but I was just looking at the radar, I believe it will be raininng in the next couple of hours.

Either way though water, dirt and grass dont mix well when it comes to solid footing and it could play a big part in the game if conditions are bad. I still look for Boyle to pull out the win either way. Regardless of field conditions both teams have to put guys out there on the field. If its muddy for Catholic its muddy for Boyle.
