Congratulations to GRC, I was a bit suprised.

Fake punt! What guts! Great game.

That couldn't have been an automatic call. Tell me that the upback had an option on this call depending on the defense.......No coach in his right mind would have called this.....

Not sure what we did tonight....I wasn't there.....

with the way teams are keying on Caleb and the way that Fritz is coming along we should run more plays with both in the backfield. Remember last year Fritz was probably considered the better back coming into the season. Watkins has more speed and power (D1 player IMO) but Fritz has that Barry Sanders style plus is showing more power. ...Looks better each week.

I'm not a football expert but just saying...

I also like Caleb as a receiver, not many (if any) will run him down and he seems to have good hands.

There is a huge difference between 6A and 2A. Doesn't make Corbin a bad team or GRC a great team, it just usually means a little more depth and more experience playing good teams. Not a surprising score to me.

For most teams I agree, however, Corbin isn't most teams. They field a good number of players and they play 5A North Laurel and South Laurel and won.

:thumb::thumb: Corbin didn't make the plays and GRC did.

GRC played good game and had good game plan.Corbin Defense wasn't as solid as normal line backers were out of place alnight way to many big runs up the middle. But GRC game plan made that happen they ran a spread offense that takes away some line backers to cover recievers make running game easier. The score could have been much worse our corners were burn alnight.Like to see Fritts get more touches.Had some fumbles recovered most of them the costly one went for TD score 35-30 thats fumble was 7 pts.But that ant the only reason we lost. The main thing was our game plan.Over 50% of our plays had no one at wide out.You can't block eleven coming in and tackling every player that may have the football. The O-line did what they could we just need to spread the offense out get some defenders away from the line.Offense we were out coached.

Cardinals hand Redhounds first loss of season

By Keith Taylor

October 3, 2009

George Rogers Clark left the field dancing. The Cardinals celebrated homecoming in successful fashion.

Clark quarterback Andrew Dini threw for 139 yards and rushed for 89 more to pace the Cards’ offensive attack. Dini threw for one score, while Skinner hauled in three passes for 88 yards and completed a 21-yard pass in the first half. Corey Rogers caught three passes for 80 yards.

Corbin running back Caleb Watkins, one of the top rushers in the state, had 112 yards and scored three touchdowns. Skinner scooped a fumble by Watkins and marched into the end zone untouched with a 25-yard touchdown run, giving Clark a 35-23 advantage with 1:43 left in the third frame.

Columbia said the score by Skinner was a factor in the outcome. “That was huge,” he said.

Corbin 07 10 06 07 - 30

Clark 14 07 14 00 - 35 GRC — Jones 27-run (Moody kick). Corbin — Watkins 69 pass from Mitchell (Okuma). GRC — Rogers 21-catch from Dini (Moody kick). Corbin — Okuma 22 field goal. GRC — Gipson 3-run (Moody kick). Corbin — Fritts 50-run (Okuma kick). GRC — Gipson 4-run (Moody kick). Corbin - Watkins 5-run (run failed). GRC — Skinner 26 fumble recovery (Moody kick). Corbin — Watkins 6-run (Okuma kick).

Thought Corbin would win this game. Congrats to GRC:thumb:

Congrats to GRC on a big win. I too was wrong on my prediction, and I now am eating crow on my questioning why GRC scheduled a big time program like Corbin for homecoming!:isurrender::isurrender:

You were not the only one wrong, only 8 posters picked GRC to win and 35 for Corbin. The week we played Lafayette only 1 poster picked GRC to win, and I am sure this week GRC will be the underdog against Henry Clay.

That seems like a logical move to me, although I was told that Farris did not like to play them together......I'm sure he knows more than me.

Corbin had 2 DB's hurt, but the others have to be ready to go when called upon. GRC made Corbin's D look bad in the first half, but they played better as the game went on.

I though Corbin had plenty of time to try and drive down the field late in the game for the go-ahead score, but kept trying to hit the HR instead. The defenses seem to know what's coming on most of Corbin's plays, I guess they will just have to out execute the D.

Your exactly right.

I also think Caleb and Ryan should be in the game at the same time more often. I don't think Caleb got one touch to the strong side. There were some bigger holes being opened up on that side as normal. I realize that backs need to be able to run to either side, but if your right handed, you have more advantage running to the right, it is easier to cut. I also believe that Caleb has proved himself to make big plays, but he never touched it on that drive, as a matter of fact, he was not even a factor because he was a blocking back. We never did attempt a quick pitch which was also a mistake.

We will be alright though and our kids played hard.

I agree Corbin will be alright.I heard some people talking this maybe a good lose or wake call.I don't know maybe it is hopefully it gives the staff alot to look at.And the kids played till the final whistle they are comming together as a complete team.I agree with Caleb and Ryan on the feild at the same time that way the focus isn't just on Caleb.
