Ryle 56 Cooper 13

Featured Replies

If anyone thinks that Cooper is on the same level as any of the Northern Ky 6A schools, then they must not understand the student body that Cooper started with for their first year. They didn't have the luxury of a private school to be able to allow certain student athletes to enroll regardless of location. So, football talent wise, I believe the Varsity team is on the same level as some of the schools that the Old guy mentioned. Just because you receive a 6A title, doesn't mean your going to be able to field a 6A caliper team to begin with immediately.

:laugh:The KHSAA doesn't put schools in different divisions because of talent, it put Cooper in 6A because of it's size!

If the case of talent wise were true, Beechwood, HHS, NCC and CovCath would all be in 6A.

BTW you should ask your Baseball Coach and your AD about where they attended HS.

Bigger school like Ryle?

Now if you are meaning that Cooper is so much bigger than Lloyd, Louisville Shawnee and Scott, the teams you beat, then go at it, but you are a 6A school so don't cry when another 6A school beats you!

Cooper has the # to be a 4A school. The reason they are in 6A is so they dont have to travel.

Then why mot play a 5A schedule with HHS, CovCath, Dixie and Scott?

Not trying to be rude here, but if you don't know the specifics of things, you should be careful of what you say. We all know how the divisions are divided, so the sarcasm is null. and Cooper simply did not get to start out with a large number of Varsity level football talented male students.

Ask the AD about that one!

Before the school opened the principle held meetings and told us we would be 4A size for a couple of years and then should be 6A size so he elected to just start in 6A and play the rival Boone County schools. I have no problem with this as this school will be fine in a couple of years and then go through their ups and downs like every other school (outside of HHS who are always good) depending on talent that comes through. TOG, I'm not sure why you are getting so testy when folks from another school are proud of what their kids are doing. I know you love your Cov Cath and that is fine as others love their school too. Good luck to your Colonels as they look to be back on the right track after a couple of down years.

There is no question he is a very talented back. There is also no question that his gaudy rushing numbers could only be attained by playing some very weak competition. It is one thing to announce to teams like Shawnee, Scott, and Lloyd that you are going to rush the ball on almost every down and don't have a passing game and get away with it. It is an entirely different thing when Cooper faces their district schedule without any passing threat whatsoever. And they have NO passing threat at all. None.

Bradley is one of the better backs in NKY. If he had more support at Cooper (passing game, etc.), he would put up even bigger numbers. If he was at Ryle or Boone, he would be big time. There are not many backs who can do much against a good team who can stack the box.

I've been very complimentary of him and Cooper and my statement was hardly a slam at him or his efforts, but a simple statement of fact that he leads NKY in rushing to date because of the schedule they have played. Don't read more into it than what was intended.

And Ryle's backs did have some pretty impressive numbers in this game - 200 yards rushing and 5 TD's in 3 quarters is fairly solid work. Plus, Ryle doesn't have a rush-only offensive attack and also had some nice passing stats.

Bradley is in the same class as Simpson and Quainoo and Elliot, IMO. He was a very good back in peewee football, just like those three. He has just taken a few years off football before coming back.

I heard Bradley looked good.

Are you just joking around....

he had like 3 fumbles and was taken out before the 3rd quarter because he hurt his ankle

He played in the third quarter.

Bradley was still running hard while visibly limping between plays in the 3rd so it probably became apparent it was foolish to keep pounding him at a Ryle D that had made their adjustments and had him corralled. I'm sure he'll be ready to play this week. Minor nicks like that happen and he was playing through it quite well. I thought he was a very explosive and powerful back that would kind of 'leap' through the hole and was a handful to tackle one-on-one open field. He played out of the shotgun for a while and it appeared he was supposed to pick the hole that opened. It was effective for a couple sets of downs.

Not sure he showed that he was hard to tackle in the open field.

I guess Ryle didn't win by enough. They dropped to 3rd in the new NKY poll.

I don't think that is the case but you have to admit beating Conner by virtually the same score will open some eyes. Everyone knows Ryle could have won by more if they needed to. The good thing is Ryle and SK will be able to settle it on the field. That should be a great game. :thumb:
