What Do Kids Call the 70s/80s "Hood?"

Featured Replies

I was talking to my son today and referred to a past acquaintance from the high school days as a "hood." He had zero clue what I was talking about.

So for those in their 40s who do remember using the "hood" term do you have any idea what today's version of the "hood" is called?

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

No, that's a hoodie.

Yep!

My parents would have killed me, and I mean that literally, if someone in my small town had referred to me or my brother as hoods!

Thanks there Webster, lol.

I think the correct term that would update the word "hood" in the way you are referencing it would be "thug" or the more universal word "idiot".
