Greenup County 38 Raceland 26 (JV)

Was it a really good job after all? :idunno:

A win deserves a "good job" comment, IMO. I am not saying that Greenup doesn't need to work on things. Pass coverage, mental mistakes, etc. these things will improve with time and effort.

The tailgating was great and the fans were awesome, and to win like that, well it say's alot about our boys, were the senior flags at the game?:walk:

Why would the senior flags be posted at a JV game? How many seniors are playing JV? I didn't think seniors were allowed to play?

Not sure what the rules are regarding seniors playing JV. There may have been one player on the field who was a senior. He does not start or play in varsity games.

:cry::cry:

I was just wondering if this was a JV game or JV/Varsity game. The Muskies looked real good. I found out after the game that the Muskies had FIVE REGULAR VARSITY STARTER PLAYERS play in this game. I guess they did look real good. You look real when your var. starters are going up against two freshman lineman, a freshman QB (and by the way this freshman QB picked apart the secondary) and eight other non starters. To verify you can ask your Head football coach. Is it win at all cost in muskie land? I know it wasn't a numbers problem. I seen appx. 30-40 players in green. Our coach asked Coach Copley after the game why he did that. Copley said they were only first year starters. Somebody please explain to me WHY this happened. I just lost alot of respect for Copley. If I was a Muskie mom or dad who had a REAL JV player on the team. I think I would be asking ?'s. And with all the extra talent you had on your team. Why did it come down to us dropping the ball in the endzone as time was about to run out. With all the extra talent you had don't you think you should of kicked our butts. What is going on in Muskie land. Parents on the muskie side must have noticed. Other then that I guess it was a really good victory. Something to grow on. Help the program.......:puke::eyeonyou:

Thanks, I did think that the JV rams played an alright game vs the Muskie JV/VAR team. I guess we did alright. We should have done alot better. :irked:

I think you said it right. Quote: to win like that. It does say alot about a team:thumb::thumb::thumb:

RAM, Before you cong. the muskies on a big win. Ask about some of the players that played in this game.:notworthy::idunno:

I am not sure who was out there playing, but I do know that last year the Rams played eight sophmores during the freshman game last year, to ensure a win.Just ask your coach about that,I lost respect then myself, for your coaching staff. It's not the kids fault and I still root for them when they are not playing Greenup.Besides JV games are suppose to be for improving your underclassmen. We have kids lose their starting position every week that makes them JV. You trying to tell me that none of those kids playing for the Rams ever touch the field during varsity games,I know better.

Has the freshman game scheduled for Thursday been canceled? Hopefully the young Rams can learn from these games, the coaching staff does get to check out players that might be able to help out on varsity.

I guess I shouldn't expect any other exp. I'm not crying I'm trying to understand. I guess you didn't think the real JV team could win.

Due to being a 1A school, Raceland and many other 1A schools play sophomores that do not play varsity and very little JV ball. I wasn't aware of it until I was involved with the program 4 years ago. Coaches share this info with each other so don't get too high on the horse regarding freshmen football until you know all the facts. BTW, if Raceland didn't play sophomores on the freshmen team, there would be many years they wouldn't have enough to play.

I agree with you about the importance of JV football. I don't think I ever said you couldn't play JV if you were on the field on Friday night. We have several reserves who play "roles" on Varsity that need the extra reps to improve, just as every school. :thumb:

JV - stands for Jr Varsity I take that as no varsity starters:idunno: Plus its always been an understanding with all schools. It doenn't have anything to do with being a Sr. It has everything to do with being a Varsity Starter. Period:thumb: Your coach admitted using these varsity starters

Coach Copley cancelled the freshman team because we only had 8 freshman and he didn't think playing sophmores against freshman was quite fair. But I guess it is just a moral issue and I can guarantee if we bring our sophmores to play your freshman you will change your mind on this one doc.And by the way we do all appreciate what you have done for our boys, whoever is giving you a hard time is either very petty or just kidding.

what positions were these starters playing for GC ? I think it was a pretty good game to watch regardless. Anytime it comes down to a dropped pass in the endzone from having a chance to tie, it was worth watching. Our JV players will only get better from the experience, win or lose.

Times have changed when I played ball, Freshman team meant 9th graders only, if we didn't have enough freshman to field a team we went with out, JV meant 9th & 10th graders (non playing Varsity 9th and 10th graders), and Varsity was 9-10-11 & 12 and one season an 8th grader started varsity ;)

I think now days you can play JV no matter what grade as long as you don't start var. But teams try not to dress Sr. Plus I don't think if I was a Sr I would what to. I'm not saying anything about sr playing JV

I am speaking of the Sophomores that don't play much in JV and no Varsity. It isn't a moral issue if the coaches speak about it and agree to whatever it is. Besides, why would you put a starter or someone playing significant minutes on the Varsity squad in danger of injury?

8th graders cannot play JV or Varsity due to the rules.
