Newport is playing 10 games of fast-pitch and prolly the rest slow-pitch but i'm not for sure

Why don't they just make it a regional tournament for the slow softball teams then. I know a lot of small schools like Ludlow, Silver Grove, and many more will have hard times fielding a fast pitch team, and its not fair to these girls. A lot of them have been playing all there life and now they wont get to play unless they TRY to learn fast pitch. I think the tournament they have for them is great, and for anyone who been to the games at the state tournament, probably will admit its actually kind of exciting to watch, and you can tell it really means alot to the girls. I think its a shame that they are pretty much going away with it completely. If anything they should just change it to a regional tournament then, so atleast this way these schools who have slow pitch teams can keep playing, because it just is not fair to a lot of these girls to just take it away completely.

How hard would it be for these schools & any others interested to come together as a group & form the KSPSA (Kentucky Slow Pitch Softball Association) or something like that?

I think thats what Troy Styer, and Dale McMillen, along with some other coaches are trying to do after the 2 years are up. Or make it a "Club" sport.

Sorry, beer league softball is for 35-40-year-old men with bellies the size of watermelons, not 17-year-old girls. If they want to play slo-pitch, play it in the beer league that is still being played weekly in the summers at the local park, along with the rest of the past-glory types.

Why, in this age of Title IX, doesn't someone give them a hardball and a mound?

 

Virtually no difference between boys and girls soccer in high school, virtually no difference in track, virtually no difference in basketball, or volleyball or golf or cross country or swimming.

I'd rather watch fastpitch over baseball any day of the week. IMO FP is just more exciting than baseball.

Because a lot of these schools also don't have youth teams that have fast pitch, so they wouldn be learning how to play until high school, and by that time its a little to hard to learn. So most of these small school would just get destroyed, and so most of them probably would either just not play or quit because it just no fun to go out their and get beat everyweek. I know fast pitch is more exciting, but when did all sports start to have to be fun for the FANS to watch for it to exist. It really shouldn't matter to what the fans would rather watch, it should matter about what the atheletes like to do. I agree every school should atleast offer fast pitch, because that would give girls who are interested in it a chance to maybe get a scholarship in it. But we should not just get rid of slow pitch completely, because alot of girls just play because they enjoy it and have fun, and not care about if they get the opportunity to get a scholarship in slow pitch. The last I checked that is all that matters in sports is for the students to have fun while playing. You do not need youth teams to field a fast pitch softball team. If slowpitch is the only sport they play, then maybe they need to develop interests in other things, besides "sitting around." :flame:

Carroll Co, Trimble Co, Gallatin Co, Owen Co, Henry Co, and Brossart are some to name a few.

Actually fast pitch is such a pitcher dominated game that you only need one superior pitcher to become instantly competitive with the better teams.

 

If you have a pitcher and someone who can catch behind the plate you really don't need that many hitters or fielders to be in most games.

 

So small schools won't have a giant hill to climb if they have a pitcher.
