Wburg can still not stop the run. Defense would have made a difference. Being able to run out the clock would have been big as well once they were up by 10 in the fourth. Jackets played hard, were outsized, and out numbered but almost won. Sound familar? Off to Hazard to next. It does not get any easier for the Jackets.

That's what I was wondering. Since I'm a Somerset alum and parent I think you know I'm not a Pulaski fan but there was wayyyyyy more protesting from the Knox Central fans about the officiating in the Pulaski game. I just wondered how they felt about being on the good side of a controversial call.

 

It was just one of those judgement things, I guess. At the time, I don't recall hearing W'burg protest more than normal. I guess WYMT's angle was better or the ref just blew the call because he was standing right there.

 

And yeah, always happy to get a call.

They had a sideline full of walking (or at least limping) wounded for this one. They just had a really good gameplan and played hard.

Who wants officials that are calling a game for them to call it so they have a close loss???? Just bad officiating and some late finger pointing....

 

It sounds like this one was just blunder after blunder on calls and the one that mattered is the one that decided the game. JMO. No smoking gun or government cover ups.

by the way the fumble in the endzone was not the only BAD calls made friday nite..thier was at least four calls against KNOX Central that cost them 21 pts....but when 4 of the 5 refs. live in Whitley Co. and 2 live in W' burg what can you expect...not to mention their little sideline meetings with Hacker, who's son just so happens to be the D-Cor. for W-burg...just letting you know some more FACTS........................

I thought Williamsburg had a wonderful game, much improvement. Jerry Herron is a great coach, and he has been working very hard with this team. These boys have such enthusiasm and such a will to win. I wish them luck the rest of the season. Go Jackets

Nobody is perfect. There were some calls missed both ways, as there are in every game. Two teams played hard and provided a very entertaining game for those of us lucky enough to see it. The crew member from Williamsburg is probably the worst ref in SE Ky. He does not understand the game well enough to cheat anybody. I have watched him call football, girls and boys basketball, softball and baseball from little league to varsity and he has been bad in all sports at all levels. He is good man who does very well in his chosen profession but is lousy when you hand him a whistle. I believe he calls soccer and volleyball also but can not comment on his abilities there because I have never seen him call those sports. He waived off 3 calls that he made in the 4th quarter of this game. He is like bad weather both teams have to play with him calling. You never know when he is going to make a totally inane call. Kick him upstairs and let him assign officials and keep him away from the field. He is honest but inept, the Barney Fife of refs.

The officiating has been and always will be terrible in this area until there is some accountability, supervision and training. There are some good officials but only because they take it upon themselve to huslte and know the rules and mechanics.

Full Metal Jacket can you give us an injury report for the Jackets? Barton is out for the year. Lowery could be back in a couple of weeks. But what about Root? I believe that he played last week but was hampered by an injury. Someone said he pulled his groin.

From all I have heard, Root will have to be healthy to strengthen W'burg's defense.

They'll need him against Hazard.
