I agree with that. He should be in the Others to Watch list IMO.

The best player that I do not see mentioned at all is Ashley Hatfield from Shelby Valley. Hes 6-6 and shoots the ball very well. I really like him. Hes the biggst omission I have seen.

I think Demling does a very good job of giving a lot of kids recognition and spreading postive information. His rankings IMO are pretty accurate. Thats not to say they definitly won't be a lot different by the end of the year. There is just so much talent in the group.

 

There is a lot of talent in the 2010 class, and that's why its hard to accurately list the top 65 players.

J. Johnson is bigger and more athletic than Whitaker is, but Whitaker is much more skilled. He is a true PG with a great ability to score, pass, and handle the ball. Whitaker has led his team to the Sweet 16 2 straight years. And there is no doubt hes been the best player on his team those 2 seasons. At the same time JJ has also been great, but he hasn't really been showcased really.

I would agree he does have more skill, than Johnson, but Johnson's athletic ability overcomes that. Also his defense and rebounding is outstanding. He would be showcased better if he played for a small school team. He doesn't stand out that much with players like Ricardo and Elijah on his team.

JJ is the epitome of a role player. I'd take him on my team every day of the week, but I wouldn't want him as my #1 option...

He did a great job of ranking players from the 1st region.

 

He misspelled two of them and the third one has been removed from his school and moved out of state.

The top 6 players are solid D-1 players. Ive heard Pittman may not go D-1 out of high school because of his grades. But if he gets straightened out those 6 are easily D-1 talents. Now the top 3 have all committed to good D-1 schools.

 

I don't know about top 10, but I would put him in front of all of the players you mention. I would bump Whitaker and Johnson down some.

 

Another omission is Corbin's Madison Johnson.

 

Madison did not play anywhere close to his capability in the state tourney, which may or may not have hurt his ranking. I'm not sure who he played with this summer or how he looked during aau season. He can shoot the lights out when he is on, needs to improve his ball handling skills IMO.

I think Cody Miller from Knox Central should be in the top 25, he is a very skilled player who has good size and can score from anywhere on the floor.

Yeah I really like him. He may be the best player in the 13th region this year including St. John. I like Madison Johnson also. Hes been really good since he was a freshman.

I haven't seen everyone play, but from what I've seen, I would take Jermiah any day over, Donovan Johnson, Vance Hall, Jarrod Polson, Josh Whitaker, and even Shaquille Wilson. IMO he could be in the top 10, but your right theirs an arguemnt for everyone. I would say if Jermiah didn't play on a team with talent like his brother and Pittman, we would give him more credit. He is very underated and has been his whole highschool career.

IMO an argument could be made for Vance Hall to be higher on the list based on his play over the summer. He will be hard to handle this year!!! Many will be surprised.

I'd include JJ as a top 20 even though I agree that he is not the "go to guy".....I can't agree with the inclusion of Popp, Jolly, Flannery into the "mention" category but I would place them ahead of O'conner and Avery who did get mention. (I love Mech, but attending Holmes shouldn't rate him higher than he ever was before ?) Hatfield is a possibility (even though he's not really 6'6" !)

In this class to be in the top 25 is a big accomplishment because there are so many good players. Hall is a very nice player and will need to have a really big year for Franklin Co.

I'm curious, who would you put in the "mention" category instead of Avery and O'Conner? I also feel that Flannery and Popp would be slightly ahead of those two, as well as others in the list, such as Reiger, Shelton, and Stepp. All are good players, however. I also think Whitaker is not a top 20 player, but that is just my opinion based on the one time I saw him play.

 

These rankings are fun but not always accurate. No one person, including Mr. Demling, has seen all of the players or enough of the them to make a completely informed and unbiased decision. Perhaps, waiting to see who gets offers to play in college might be the best and most objective way to determine the top players in the end. Will at least 65 players from Kentucky in this class get offers to play college ball? I would be surprised. For those who do play in college, which level will they end up at?
