A friend just told me he just updated to the new 3.1 firmware and now has MMS(picture messaging). Anyone else? I haven't updated yet and wont be able to until tommorrow.

Well it's only on 3Gs and only in certain areas. But it's supposed to be available to all of us on Sept. 28th.

Where it says your iPhone's name on iTunes, click that. Then there should be an option that says, "Check for updates". Click that too, and then it should say that you can update to 3.1. It will take a few minutes to download, and then it will take a few minutes to update your iPhone.

Make sure you back your phone up first or you will lose everything.

I didn't back mine up and I didn't lose everything.

I've updated my 3G and I'm pretty sure it still doesn't do picture messaging.

The only way you'll lose anything on your phone is if you try to sync it to a computer other than yours. When you plug your phone up to update it, iTunes should automatically back it up.

Exactly. This is where I messed up and lost all my contacts, videos, pictures, and songs. I just rescynced on my other computer and got it back though. But it couldve been bad!
