September 10, 200917 yr Exactly. This is where I messed up and lost all my contacts, videos, pictures, and songs. I just rescynced on my other computer and got it back though. But it couldve been bad! I wish they would change this. I think it would be awesome if you could sync to another persons library, and select certain files to put on your iPod/iPhone. Give you the option to completely sync to their library, or just certain things, you know?

Give you the option to completely sync to their library, or just certain things, you know? With the new Itunes 9.0 you can pick and choose music from separate libraries in your house hold. That's one step towards what you want, I think.

September 11, 200917 yr I don't know if it's any different on an iPhone than my classic iPod, but you can set mine so it will not automatically sync when you plug it in to a computer. When the iPod device is plugged into your main PC and synced, just click on the name of the iPod to bring up the main details and it has options for automatic sync or manual sync. I changed mine to manual, so now when I want to add new songs I just drag and drop them onto the iPod, and don't have to worry about losing everything when I plug it in on any of my three computers, or my girlfriend's when I'm at her house. Again, could be different on the iPhone. I think that you can just do this on up to 5 computers total, though.
