While I will agree with the talent was better last year, I am sorry to say that I am not so sure their hearts were in it and I am not at all blaming the kids for it!

 

Football is a game played with heart and when your heart isn't in the game, no matter how good you are, you won't be very good.

 

I think this years CovCath Crazies (student body) and how they are backing the team this year says a lot about the coaches and the players, by this time last year you couldn't find a student at a game be it at home or on the road.

 

They more than anyone, knew what was going on last year and they responded to it, by not attending the games! This year the number of Crazies attending the games have been impressive, and they have been cheering whether CovCath has been winning or losing.

 

 

 

I think the players on the field had heart. If you saw their faces after their final game, and you saw them at their games, you'd know they gave it their all. Only so much they can do without a coach offering any support, and I'm sure you know he didn't. And I think the crazies had a lot to do with the coach, not so much the players. I mean the basketball team was AWFUL, but people still showed up for that. On top of it all, last years senior class was not spirited..

The Crazies IMO knew what the team was up against, and they responded by not attending. It was their way of saying, you don't support our fellow students, we won't support you!

 

The Crazies backed the Basketball Team because they realized the players and the coach cared and played with heart but with the amazing list of injuries that the BBall team had last year what could the team, or the coaches do.

 

The biggest display of love and heart that I saw from the senior class was at a baseball game in Louisville against Apollo.

 

There were men on first and second with only one out and Isler was pitching. The batter hit a rocket just to the right of Logan Siemer, who somehow stopped the ball and turned it into a 4-6-3 DP.

 

Ice ran and I mean ran to Logan and with all the power that a 220 lbs 6'4" inch senior could muster, just about killed the much small Siemer and the team went nuts. Now that was heart, that was love, and I got chills just watching it.

I think this may be the game of the week in Northern Kentucky. Have the Camels ever beaten CovCath? Somehow, its hard to imagine this year. Good luck to all.

I love when people speak about the number of sophomores that are playing and its not even close. We have two sophomores that have started all three games. I wonder where someone comes up with 40%.

One thing I think will come into play that has not been mentioned thus far: urgency.

 

As a former player, I can recall time and time again that Lynn Ray stressed responding to "urgency". Players need to have a sense of urgency and they need to respond by getting the job done. So far, they have responded by improving visibly from week to week, and this week I think their response will be to pull out the W.

 

These young men are aware enough to understand that there are a lot of eyes watching them this season with yet another change in coaching staff...particularly a change that brings back someone like Coach Ray. They know their progress is being observed by the Cov Cath community, Northern Kentucky, Greater Cincinnati...all of Kentucky, for that matter. They know how many people are going to be watching the game this Friday, be it in person, on tv, or through newspapers and the internet. Furthermore, they have to be feeling the urge to win - plain and simple. They are going to respond to that.

 

It may not be their prettiest win this season (or their ugliest), but I see them pulling it out.

Yes I agree, 100 %. There is no doubt that Erpenbeck should’ve been the QB last year. But don’t forget, he got his 1st start against Louisville St.Xavier, Explain Coach B’s thinking on that one last year?
