I know Corbin was much the better team. I just could never figure out what Danville was trying to get accomplished on offense.

From the sounds of the radio, Danville had trouble on both sides of the ball.

Its great to have size, but do they have any speed coming up like Watkins and Fritz?

 

To be honest, I would say they have some great backs coming up. However, I'm out of the loop these days and would hate to say yes or no. I do know they have a fine 8th grade team and I know the Sophomore class was excellent in Middle school. As always, I'm sure Corbin will continue to be Corbin and contending but do not know if they have any superstars.

 

The Foley kid was unreal in middle school but he still needs to hit the weight room. Taylor returns and will more than likely be the feature back next year.

Corbin's defense played well, flew to the ball and gang tackled. They did have a couple of big mistakes defensively, the backup CB let the receiver get behind him for the 80 yd TD when the QB scrambled and another CB didn't turn and look for the ball, which led to a pass interference call. If that is all the untrained eye can pick up in a game versus Danville, then they must have been well prepared and carried out their assignments.

 

The blocking up front for Corbin was pretty good and the backs(though Foley blocked really good last night)blocked well for each other. Good to see Fritts get some carries, running and blocking hard, will need him as the season progresses. Watkins obviously played well(not sure how many yds he gained, over 200 I'm sure), but so did Taylor who is very difficult to bring down.

 

According to AM News, Watkins had 17 carries for 224 yards and four TD's. :thumb:

No one is hanging anything at this point. We know that its a long season and the real "hat-hangers" come in the playoffs.

Good win for Corbin, pretty upsetting for the Ads! Looks like the road to state is getting harder and harder for the 2a teams.

Looking at the Ads schedule they could end up 1-4 before the start of district play. Tough Schedule.
