Ryle 28 CovCath 27 (Frosh)

Featured Replies

Very fun game to watch and if you saw the Ryle vs CovCath JV game, you saw this game but this time Ryle came out on top.

CovCath scored a TD with seconds left on the clock and went for the tie with a PAT attempt, but they missed the attempt.

A 31 yard FG by the Ryle Place Kicker was the difference in the game after he had missed a PAT and had a PAT blocked.

Ryle players of the future were #24, #44 and #2 while CovCath players were #24 Beatrice #2 Jenkins and a couple more that I didn't get there names.

While Ryle players were much bigger than the CovCath kids, the CovCath frosh were as fast as any CovCath team I have seen in a long..long...time.

When they put on some size in the next year or so, WOW.

Sounds like the Lil Colonels are in for a good year. It's nice to win your games, but it's nicer to be able to show progress to the next level. How much does the 7th and 8th grade teams have to do with this?

I would have thought quite a bit too, but I was told by a parent of the team (when I ask the same question to him) that honestly not that much, but he felt that this year middle school team, has much better talent!

I really was impressed with the CovCath Freshmen team as I was with the Ryle kids and like I said, our young Frosh sure can fly!

Just to correct you Ryle's kicker kick a 41 yd. FG . And I agree with you that was the difference in the game. Well played game by both teams tonight. Both programs have very bright future.

I heard both teams were 2 of the top ones up here this year.

Did CCH's really good QB, Bir play or is he strictly JV?

41 yards wow! I was on the opposite end of the field and didn't hear the distance, but it was a no doubter.

The young man didn't IMO have a very good game and I am pretty sure he is down on himself after the game. He will, as any player will, have great and not so great games but it happens but it doesn't diminish the fact that the young man can play!

The statement by the parent was quite untrue. 25 of the 52 freshman players were on the Colonel middle school team. That first year team did not do as well as expected because the teams were divided equally. Had they put the best 11 player on the field it may have had a different outcome. This year the colonel middle school team consists of an all 8th grade team that competes against the large schools and a 7th grade against the small schools. They will definitely have an impact on future colonel teams.

silentcannon, I just answered the question from outoftouch and gave him the man's answer, to my same question!

I inquired because I honestly didn't know but not having half of the kids (from the numbers you gave) come from last year middle school team, really proves what the gentlemen told me.

Now as I said that was last year, but this years 8th grade team is very, very good and I expect the above number to change quite a bit.

Personally I would have thought that a much larger percentage of players would have been on the CovCath middle school team but for a first year program that not bad.

Now to ask you a question silentcannon? How many of the starters on the Frosh team, were on the middle school team last year, compared to the kids who played elsewhere and start? I am just wondering nothing more nothing less, as I am just glad to see the kids play and enjoy watching them play.

Isn't it awfully early to determine the impact of the CC MS program?

How many future Colonels are playing in places other then the CC MS feeder team?

- NKYFL

- Boone County League

- Ft. Thomas League

It would be very interesting to see where the Cov Cath kids would be playing High School football if they stayed true to their public schools. Also the kids that pay tuition to go to Beechwood and other schools that allow out of district players. Where would some of these top football players be going to HS based on where they live?

I know Beatrice and Nowak were in the Boone County league last year and I believe both are in Cooper's district if they had chosen to go there. Cooper's Freshman is already very good and would be even better with these two.

Bir - is from St. Paul lives Ryle district

Jenkins - is from St. Henry Grade School played for Lions last year.

Actually, this was the Freshman game - not JV. Absolutely agree with theoldguy - a great game to watch. Points of clarification:

that was a 41....yes, 41 yard field goal to tie the game in the 3rd quarter by Ryle Freshman Mead.

You note Ryle players of the future

#24 - Pulice

#44 - Pavy

#2 - Bloom

Next week - Highlands at Ryle (Frosh) - should be an early game of the year.

First welcome to BGP!

If you had attended the CovCath vs Ryle JV game which CovCath won, you would have realized what I wrote was quite true. The Frosh game was a carbon copy of the JV game, but Ryle won the Frosh game while CovCath won the JV game!

Thanks for the welcome - tough to imagine both games ending in similar fashion - it's gonna be a great year!
