August 31, 200917 yr Have any of you all seen this movie? I just watched this movie last week. And never before have I felt so emotionally drained or just in a state of awe after a movie. I honestly just felt bad the rest of the day thinking about it. This movie is really powerful and I honestly think that high schools should require students to watch this or read the book because it just goes so deep into the world of drugs and how they can just ruin lives.
August 31, 200917 yr It's a fantastic movie but like you said it can be really hard to watch. I can really only watch it once a year at the max because of the way I feel afterward. Aronofsky obviously sees things in the world quite a bit different than the way most other people do.
August 31, 200917 yr That movie is very disturbing. I watched it in my Drugs, Crime and Society class in college.
August 31, 200917 yr An excellent movie...it's one of my favorites. Though I would agree, it can be tough to watch.
August 31, 200917 yr Its one of those movies that I feel everyone should see at least once. I love it, but definitely don't watch to to often. I have made the same statements that I believe they should show it in schools.

Anything below college and you have a firestorm on your hands.

August 31, 200917 yr What level of education do you believe it should be shown in? Anything below college and you have a firestorm on your hands. Due to politics and everything that involves the education system, I'm sure it would never happen. But if I could run things they why I want, it would be shown during Junior or Senior year of high school. We all know that would never be a possibility.
August 31, 200917 yr ....says the guy who has no problem with middle school teachers posing for Playboy. Especially if they are hot! I'm actually ok with showing it...just saying that a TON would not be. Especially the scenes at the end with the Marion character, I'd pay big money to be in the PTA meeting when that came up. The easier (and only possible) route is to throw the book on the required reading list.
August 31, 200917 yr I believe that they do have an edited version that doesn't show Marion's scene, but I might be wrong. Putting a book on the required list won't do anything...you think I read the Crucible? lol

September 1, 200917 yr FWIW, I've always wanted to see this, and I went ahead and bought it for $2 today (God Bless Craigslist) so I'll get around to it soon.

The Marion scene is unbelievable. Especially since it was Jennifer Connelly. Every time I see her in a movie or on tv, the Marion scene pops up in my head. It is a part of my mental forever because of this movie. Which, for the record, is not a bad thing at all.
