Final

Nice win for a young Garrard team.

This game was definitely worth the price of admission! Both teams slugged it out. Rowan County's running back Darrell Cross is unbelievable. His opening kickoff return really opened the eyes of the Garrard kids to see how fast/quick he really is! I honestly believe he's one of the ten best backs in the state. Unfortunately the team isn't great so most likely won't get a chance to see him.

Garrard looked to be taking control right before halftime. Two redzone turnovers in the second quarter and the Lions still led 28-14. But things began to unravel in the third quarter. A couple bad calls mixed in with good offense from Rowan and the Lions sort of lost composure. It took about halfway into the fourth to right the ship.

Two late Rowan turnovers helped for Garrard, the last one at the three minute mark set up the final Golden Lion drive from midfield. Cory Wilson capped it off with a 10 +/- yard run with :06 left to seal the deal.

While the number of points allowed doesn't look great, the defensive front seven were much better tonight than they were against Anderson County. The defensive backfield did have some struggles, but made plays when they had to late. Dylan Naylor was huge from his defensive end position and linebacker Brett Dowell had a nice 15-yard interception return before halftime.

On offense, freshman quarterback Billy Abney was again solid and sophomore tailback Wilson had his best game at Garrard. And of course Tyler Ray was solid for the Lions; he's the best player on the field and they made a point to get him the ball more than they did last week.

This is a huge win for the team. Such a big difference between starting 1-1 and 0-2. The next two weeks bring winnable games with West Jessamine and Estill County, followed by a bye week then on to district play. I think this group could be playing really good football by the time the big games come around.

Good luck. It's good to see you guys get a win. Congrats and keep it up.

Congrats to Garrard. I really thought the Vikings would win this one. Coach Brown has this team moving in the right direction and they will improve

Agreed with you on that. Rowan could have easily won this ballgame. It was basically last team that scores wins. The Vikings are a very nice club and I wouldn't be surprised if they win their district.

That is a big win for GC good luck rest of the season. I thought that RC would have won this game.

Congratulations to the Golden Lions on hard fought victory. Hats off to the folks of Lincoln County for being such wonderful hosts of the Death Valley Bowl.
