LRCW Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 What say you AJG? You want him to return to Boston? http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9935104/Source:-BoSox-may-turn-to-familiar-face-for-SS-help
UKMustangFan Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Luckily the Sox have a GM with a brain, so I think it's a safe bet they don't go near Gonzo....

You want him to return to Boston? http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9935104/Source:-BoSox-may-turn-to-familiar-face-for-SS-help If Lowrie isn't going to be able to get back to form this season--and it looks like he won't, he's an upgrade over Nick Green. I'm sure he won't cost the Red Sox any kind of decent prospect so I guess it couldn't hurt. Since he's only signed for the rest of the year if he gets injured they really aren't in any worse shape than what they are now at the position.
LRCW Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 It looks as though it's a done deal. I can't believe the Reds got Clay Buchholz. You shouldn't either because they didn't. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2009/08/sox_acquire_ale.html
LRCW Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 In a related move, Dusty Baker is in a panic trying to figure out who to hit in the 2 hole.

You shouldn't either because they didn't. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2009/08/sox_acquire_ale.html They got $6M for next year. That's all I need to hear.
LRCW Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 They got $6M for next year. That's all I need to hear. They were going to have that savings anyway. They will save from having to pay the rest of that salary for this year, and I believe paying the buyout on his contract. I'm not sure how much that will save them.

They owed him $1.5 million for the rest of this year.
LRCW Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 So who did the Reds get from this trade? I'm sure not much.
ladiesbballcoach Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 So who did the Reds get from this trade? Rid of Gonzo and his contract.
gametime Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Minor league shortstop Kris Negron. The 23-year-old Negron, a seventh round pick by the Sox in the 2006 draft, was hitting .263 for Single A Salem.
