August 9, 200917 yr Which is still not half the ground game Silva has. :ohbrother: You can't be serious? WOW
August 9, 200917 yr 2007 ADCC Submission Wrestling World Champion 2007 Super Challenge under-83kgs Champion 2006 Pan American Champion 2005 ADCC Submission Wrestling World Runner-Up Three-time World Cup champion Two-time World Champion Brazilian champion 7x state champion 4x Brazilian team champion
August 9, 200917 yr Author :ohbrother: You can't be serious? WOW I am very serious. Whether you want to accept it or not Silva is by far the best and most dominating fighter at 185. Some aspects of his game get over shadowed because he's a great all around fighter. Although known for his outstanding Muay Thai, Silva can be wicked on the ground also. With his strength and balance, it is extremely hard to take him down. Leites tried and tried and did not even come close to getting a takedown. Even if Maia gets him down, that still doesn't give him that much of an advantage being Silva has some of the best ground grappling defense in MMA. His guard is almost flawless, and at times almost impossible to pass. All you need to prove that he is that good on the ground is when he won a fight, on his back from elbow strikes while in his guard. Now that is a WOW.

His defense is what separates him IMO, and like said he does it with his great balance and strength. Many guys seem to panic when they are on their back. The few times Anderson has had to fight from his back he has looked unfazed and looking for a way to win the fight from his back.

I give you Silva is great on his back....But Maia is a submission specialist... We'll agree to dis-agree
August 9, 200917 yr Author I give you Silva is great on his back....But Maia is a submission specialist... We'll agree to dis-agree Exactly what I was getting ready to say. Specialist or not I think Silva would win easily. How well do you think Maia would fair against Griffin? Forrest is one of the best fighters in the UFC, and has a handful of very impressive victories. He done nothing except get humiliated by the Spider.

Maia wouldn't come close to doing what Spider did to FG, But we're talking about two very different fighters here, Maia and Silva
August 9, 200917 yr Big step up for GSP, But if anyone can stand with Silva, It's GSP.. Silva would own GSP and Maia, too. Any guy that doesn't have an iron chin ain't testing Anderson Silva...and GSP doesn't fit the description. I'm excited to see Dan Henderson rematch Silva. Do I think he'll beat him? No. But, he can't take a punch so I give him a better chance than anyone at 185 or less. Silva either makes you look BAD, or you run away like a little girl or lay on your back. Glad to see BJ dominate Florian. I loved UFC 101. It was all I'd hoped for.
August 9, 200917 yr Spider= best in the world. No doubt about it. I didn't need tonight to know it. He's made better guys than Forrest Griffin look bad. Forrest might be a man in the ring, but he sure ain't when he loses. I've seen him cry once and run away tonight. What's up with that?

Too bad they won't be fighting a BJJ match, which I certainly wouldn't say Silva would be at a terrible disadvantage. He'll KO Maia just like anyone else with a cajones to fight him.
