dolamite Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Anyone watching? Bad night for Forrest Griffin fans, The Spider destroyed him. Pretty much had his way with him the whole three, four minutes of the fight. Anderson rocked him twice, putting Forest on the ground. He let him up both times. The knock out blow came as Silva had his hands down, and dodged two or three of Griffins punches, only to follow it up with a jab that KO'd Forrest. Wow, never would have thought Forrest Griffin would have got owned like that, but just shows why Anderson Silva is pound for pound the best fighter in the world, and my favorite as well. Penn/Florian getting ready to start. Aaron Riley won unanimous decision 30-27. Johnny Hendricks won his UFC debut, in what was probably a horrible stoppage. Sadollah was on his way to his feet when the fight was stopped. Who knows what would have happened after that, but I feel the fight was stopped way too early.
5wide Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Silva dominated. Not sure why anyone would have expected something different? Griffin doesn't have a great chin and Silva has second-to-none KO ability. Could see this one coming a mile away...although I was wrong. It ended a round earlier than I thought. Didn't expect Silva to come out that aggressive that early... The KO was vintage Liddell...backpedaling right hand puts a guy down. Forrest cried uncle. Silva's a freak. I'm telling you, he'd dominate 205 if he wanted to. He just made a former champion look like a chump and there's no reason to think it would be different if they fought 100 times.
Warrior32 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 I have spent my last $44.99 on UFC.com, The quality was junk, And didn't see but maybe 3 seconds of the Silva/Griffin fight.... Never again

I'm still holding out for a Silva/Maia fight...
saint4 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Some rumors going around that next fight will be Silva vs. Georges St. Pierre. Now that would be 2 of the best pound for pound fighters going at it, and I would pay almost anything to see that.

saint4 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Big step up for GSP, But if anyone can stand with Silva, It's GSP.. I agree, kind of like the only person who can take down Lesnar is Fedor, but that is not going to happen for a while...

dolamite Posted August 9, 2009 Author Posted August 9, 2009 I'm still holding out for a Silva/Maia fight... Tonight just solidifies my opinion that Silva would destroy Maia. I don't think there is anyone in the Middleweight division that can hang with Anderson Silva.
saint4 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Tonight just solidifies my opinion that Silva would destroy Maia. I don't think there is anyone in the Middleweight division that can hang with Anderson Silva. No way, he is way above their league right now.
Warrior32 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Tonight just solidifies my opinion that Silva would destroy Maia. I don't think there is anyone in the Middleweight division that can hang with Anderson Silva. And you think Maia would be stupid enough to try and stand with Silva? :idunno:
Warrior32 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 This should have been a $3.99 PPV, Poor poor quality...
dolamite Posted August 9, 2009 Author Posted August 9, 2009 Fight over in the 4th. Florian gave up his back, Penn wins with the rear naked choke. Still the lightweight champion, BJ Penn.
dolamite Posted August 9, 2009 Author Posted August 9, 2009 And you think Maia would be stupid enough to try and stand with Silva? :idunno: No, but I do think it would go much like the Thales Leites fight, with Maia trying but failing to get Silva down, and with Silva doing pretty much whatever he wants.
Warrior32 Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 No, but I do think it would go much like the Thales Leites fight, with Maia trying but failing to get Silva down, and with Silva doing pretty much whatever he wants. Maia has twice the ground game Leites has...
