However, as I pointed out somewhere(the threads run together), unless Congress is going to force you and me to drop our current coverage and go to the public option but they are excluded then I don't see why it matters that they are offering a choice that is not mandatory to us.

 

They have a healthcare plan. You have a healthcare plan. I have a healthcare plan. If we're all happy with it, why should we have to change? I haven't heard anyone say we will have to change.

 

When we do hear that then we can take issue with Congress not playing by the same rules.

Which as stated above is exactly I'm opposing it at this point. Perhaps when the details of the reform are made clear and I understand what effect it will have on me and this country, then I'll support it. But until then, there is no way that I could support it.

I think what scares many folks is the idea of the government running anything. Let's be honest, the track record is not one to give us any great confidence, ... regardless of who is in the White House.

 

I would like the one person who answered the poll question that they did have a firm grasp on the proposal to explain (in bullet points) what the plan really says.

If the government implements a plan that isn't mandatory, meaning I can choose to keep my current healthcare, will that exclude me from paying higher taxes to pay for the government healthcare option. Or, will it simply mean that I'll be paying for my current healthcare and the government health care, while not getting to use the latter?

I know that I do not want the government running anything this important. They aren't efficient in anything they have their hands on. The less government we have minding our business the better. This plan is nothing but government beaucracy gone wild. The fact that they want to rush it through tells me that they are afraid someone will actually read it, understand it, and send it to the trash bin before they can get their liberal, socialistic agenda passed.

Any health decision is a personal decision. Take your pick. If one becomes part of the public option (as the house bill looks now) the government will help make or be making decisions regarding ones health. Right???

You're nitpicking.

 

The health insurance company makes the ultimate call today on what will be approved and what will not be approved. Why is that better than the govt making the same call? You don't have a say in either example.
