July 22, 200917 yr I'm surprised the Cubs don't sign him...:ohbrother::lol:Actually, his defense would be a help, and the Cubs could move Theriot to second. But he certainly would do nothing to help the offense.
July 22, 200917 yr Why would BoSox go for LaRoche instead of Adam Dunn who I am sure is on the block???:confused::confused:
July 22, 200917 yr Why would BoSox go for LaRoche instead of Adam Dunn who I am sure is on the block???:confused::confused:Dunn is in the Nationals' plans next year and would cost quite a bit more.
July 22, 200917 yr Why would BoSox go for LaRoche instead of Adam Dunn who I am sure is on the block???:confused::confused: Plus they already have Jason Bay, Jacoby Ellsbury, and JD Drew in the outfield and David Ortiz at DH.
July 22, 200917 yr All true but I just saw Dunn playing first base the last couple of games and I am pretty sure that is where LaRoche plays.
July 22, 200917 yr All true but I just saw Dunn playing first base the last couple of games and I am pretty sure that is where LaRoche plays. Dunn is a terrible defensive 1B. When Youk moves over to 3B, LaRoche will play 1B, and they won't lose much, if anything defensively. Dunn would be no better than them sticking Ortiz at 1B.
July 22, 200917 yr All true but I just saw Dunn playing first base the last couple of games and I am pretty sure that is where LaRoche plays. If Lowell were out for the year I could see them making a deal for Dunn or someone like that. LaRoche is more for insurance and to rest Lowell. Lowell has been fine when his hip has been okay. This trade wasn't made with the intention of LaRoche being a full-time starter.
July 22, 200917 yr I'm sure LaRoche will spell Lowell against some righties ... he can provide some sock off the bench, and he's definitely a better relief 1B than Kotsay.
July 22, 200917 yr Author Also traded Lugo to the Cards for Chris Duncan...the Red Sox are trying to sure up a questionable bench.
July 22, 200917 yr Duncan will be assigned to Pawtucket ... he needs to get his bat recharged before he can help the Red Sox.
July 22, 200917 yr A pretty honest self-appraisal of LaRoche's tenure with the Bucs: "Not real good, not real good," LaRoche said of his time in Pittsburgh. "Looking back, I'm a little disappointed because I know what I'm capable of doing and what I should be doing, but I wasn't able to put it together over a six-month season. I was too streaky."
July 23, 200917 yr Also traded Lugo to the Cards for Chris Duncan...the Red Sox are trying to sure up a questionable bench. Duncan has been terrible lately for the Cards. He is like 2-32 over the past couple of weeks.
