Turf being put down at EKU

It would also be nice for the state titles themselves to be spread out across the state but we know that isn't happening either :D:

It would be nice to have the state championships in all the sports shipped around the state for all residents of the state to enjoy in them.

I agree. A three-way rotation between Eastern, Western and Louisville would give every section of the state a "home game" of sorts in the state final every three years.

What you do lose in a rotation is a sense of tradition. I've heard schools trumpet the theme of "making it to the carpet" for years. It's the same kind of rallying cry that the basketball teams speak of in trying to get to Rupp Arena. The state finals have been in Louisville every year since 1979 and it's been a given that it would be there. Changing that does cut down a bit of history that's been developed for the last 30 years.

I don't think that Lville will get back in the picture because of the Big East conflicts.

If they rotate them, I see them doing it in 2-3 year cycles for logistic reasons.

EKU would be a great host for the football finals, if interested. The city is prepared to host an event like this since they host the Boys and Girls All-A Classic here every year while EKU is in session. Drive times for 3/4 of the state would be reasonable and the stadium size is perfect for the crowds. There is plenty of parking/restaurants/hotels/etc to acccommodate the crowds as well.

Do you mean two years at Western, then two years at Eastern, then two years at Louisville, etc.? Or did you mean this year at Western, next at Eastern, then at Louisville, then back to Western, etc.?

The parking would be the only red flag IMO, I hope people aren't suggesting everyone park at Alumni Coliseum parking lot, because that many people will not fit IMO. Throw in an awkward way of getting in and out of AC parking lot, EKU students will know what I mean. I hope it ends up at EKU if it not at UofL.

Yeah, the parking thing concerns me as well. Saturday might not be bad, but Friday could be rough will school still in session. And getting in and out of the coliseum parking lot can be difficult; they might have to allow exiting onto Lancaster Avenue from around Model.

Two years at a time. It gives a city four years to fix any problems as opposed to two years.

Shuttling them from across the street such as Hummel and Funderburke is an option also.

I sure hope they never have the state finals in Richmond. For starters, Richmond is nowhere near the town of a Louisville, Lexington or even Bowling Green. BG is only around 50K people, compared to Louisville and Lexintons 1million or so, but BG is a great town. Maybe the best true "town" in our state.

And their new facilities at WKU. 1st class!! I'm guessing the state finals are going to be there for a while. I sure hope so!

I would rather spend my gas money to go to WKU, their coaches recruit KY kids, and they don't feed the kids a line of bologna when they do recruit here.

I can't speak of this new administration but I understand your feelings while Hope was there, I believe Hood has actually opened it back up.

I can't really see you rationale when your talking population size (which has nothing to do with the state finals) when Richmond is the 6th largest city and Bowling Green is the 4th largest, only 12,000 difference.

What is your basis of a true town?

And when you say Richmond is no where near the town of Louisville, neither is Bowling Green, but once again what does that have to do with playing football. I'd say Richmond has more or at least equal to the amenities that Bowling Green has to offer, I know for a fact they will in 2011, when this would be a possibilty due to the construction of Little Hamburg in Richmond.

WKU's facilities are still debatable, they haven't played a game there yet to judge them and the last game played there, the locker rooms were flooded and security must have been lacking due to the stolen merchandise from the Ky All Stars.

Let's be realistic here. Security for an event with 300 to 500 people will be a little different than a two-day event with 20,000. Why wasn't the door locked in the first place?
