As the attorney says, lack of a criminal complaint causes me to raise a doubting eye.

I was about to post this

RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been accused of sexual assault in a civil lawsuit, his lawyer said, denying the claim.

The lawsuit was filed Friday in Washoe County District Court accusing Roethlisberger of assaulting a woman in July 2008.

Roethlisberger is one of nine defendants listed in the online court docket report. Further details of the lawsuit were not available Tuesday morning.

"Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone ... The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct. If an investigation is commenced, Ben will cooperate fully and Ben will be fully exonerated," David Cornwell, Roethlisberger's lawyer, said in a statement released early Tuesday.

I have a difficult time believing that, but these days, who knows?!

My thing is would you really expect a superstar's lawyer to say anything else?

Sorry, I can't help but find humor in the county where it was filed.:idunno:

I have to lean towards Big Ben's side honestly, he's always been a stand up guy, and I get the feeling he's getting the Kobe treatment from this girl, she see's dollar signs. If this happened why now after a year is this just coming out?

I'm not trying to say that he is lying, just saying that basing innocence on a statement by someone being paid to get you out of any trouble you may get in is something I don't tend to listen too.

And the whole "she sees dollar signs" argument, it can go against her as well. I mean what if she was married or something else. I mean these star athletes can feel like they can do whatever they want. To always blame these situations on the girl is kind of ridiculous saying she must have just wanted his money. What if she said no but he was like "don't you know who I am" or something in that nature. It's not as far fetched as some of you might think.

But, in this instance she may have lied but to instantly claim that regarding any athlete is kind of crazy.

So you see no problem with her just now coming forward after a year?

Yes, I see a problem coming out after a year.

Had it been after a month, or even a couple of months then probably not, but a year I don't buy what she's saying.

I'm just speaking in general, a lot of people, when they see an athlete involved in a sexual harassment case they automatically assume the girl is lying and just trying to get money. That shouldn't be.....in my opinion.

At least it is past tense.:D

If this was a Bengal, he would already be guilty in the public's eye.

Bad deal and a huge distraction going into training camp for Pitt.

I will say that it is probably bogus and she is just trying to get money but I find it funny he already gets a free pass on this when the same thing happened to Kobe and he was acquitted he still gets labeled in that category by some.
