Healthcare - It's Not An Option

Featured Replies

Bad analogy, that is a restriction placed upon school districts BY the school districts themselves. Public schools can choose to allow students to attend any if they so chose. Jefferson County does it, I am surprised more school districts don't.

You will still pay taxes on the school in the district you live in, regardless if you go to it or not. That was my point. (I've heard other talk radio host bring up this same point, actually where I stole it from.) So from a tax paying point, you don't have a choice.

What if you change jobs? As explained on the radio by someone from the GAO or CBO, (not sure which) you would not be able to enroll in your employers insurance since they could not add anyone to their current insurance after the beginning of the year in which the legislation passed.
But isn't that only if it doesn't meet the new standards of insurance?

From what I have heard few if any insurance carriers will qualify to add new policy holders, and that is by design. This is not a "Health Care Plan" proposed by the President, it is an Health Care TAKEOVER IMHO.

But I've heard the standards have not yet been set. Do you have a link to what those standards are?

I don't at all think it is wrong for the government to have some sets of standards for the type of heath insurance that can be offered. If a plan is worthless it does little or nothing to effect the problems we have today with the Healthcare system. I recognize that there are many who don't think the government can walk and chew gum at the same time, for them any type of government oversight is scary, but I don't know whether the health care system has the will, interest, or capability to fix itself. But I think all of this argueing is really rather pointless until we are aware of what those standards actually are.

If the standards have not been set, how can Obama say it doesn't force people to the government plan? Clearly he has said it doesn't. So....have the standards been set or is Obama lying?

The minimum standards are listed in Section 122 of the House bill.
